A surprisingly great, nostalgic and low priced aftershave from the Czech Republic. It refreshes, nourishes and leaves a scent, as you would in the 1930s just come from a barber in Prague, Vienna or Budapest: of menthol, juniper, bay leaf and cognac. With 71% alcohol, invigorating menthol and skin-soothing allantoin. Packaged in a glass bottle.
The "Alpa Windsor" is a fascinating aftershave, manufactured by the traditional Czech company Alpa a.s. Situated in Moravia (the eastern Czech Republic) Alpa became world known with the "ALPA Franzbranntwein" (rubbing alcohol), which has been produced here since 1913. In the 1930s and 1940s Alpa rubbing alcohol was exported all over the world.
The Alpa Windsor thrills by its unspoilt naturalness. It is neither an aqueous cheap after shave, nor does it attempt to demand exorbitant prices from its tradition and lasting quality. Quite the opposite is the case. For this class, it is an extremely low priced after shave.
The scent
The Alpa Windsor smells really nice, nostalgic and sustainable. You could leave it quietly regarded as the Austro-Hungarian answer to the American Bay Rum aftershaves. The Windsor smells woody,soapy-fresh, with menthol, brandy and bay leafs. The aroma is full-bodied, well-balanced, warm, full of character and confidence but never obtrusive. So this is how barber shops must have smelled in Prague, Vienna and Budapest of the 1930s.
The effect
The contained menthol invigorates, and allantoin provides a pleasant, soothing effect. Thanks to the high alcohol content of 71% which evaporates quickly, the aftershave leaves on the skin a feeling like a kind of emulsion, as if a thin, nurturing film has been placed on the skin surface.
The packaging
The rugged-looking glass bottle supports the authenticity of this aftershave. The label is simply, looks a bit dated, but also by its clear simplicity sympathetic and unobtrusive.

Finde dieses Alpa Windsor Aftershave sehr gut. Angenehm auf der Haut und ein dezenter Duft. Werde ich wieder kaufen.
Kräuteriger Duft, angenehm auf der Haut
Tolles After Shave, dass eine interessante Kräuternote aufweist. Der Wacholdergeruch ist sehr angenehm und erinnert an Gin. Ich würde es jedem empfehlen, der würzigere After Shaves bevorzugt (Pitralon, Bay Rum) und gerne neue Kräuter ausprobieren will.
Sehr schöner, etwas altmodischer Duft, tolle Pflegewirkung
"Alpa Windsor" war das erste Rasierwasser, das ich regelmäßig benutze, kein Vergleich mit den Aftershaves der "großen" Marken, die meistens zu penetrant parfümiert sind und IMHO auch in der Pflegewirkung Einiges vermissen lassen. Ein feinherber, wacholdriger Duft wie bei einem guten Gin, unaufdringlich und auf eine sehr angenehme Art altmodisch. Und deshalb ist es schade, dass er nicht sehr lange vorhält. Das ist jedoch das einzige Manko, das ich an dem "Alpa Windsor" feststellen konnte. Die Pflegewirkung ist wie bei "Dapper Dan Blue", sehr erfrischend und kühlend, bei der Rasur entstandene Hautirritationen sind wie weggeblasen. Meine volle Empfehlung, da Duft, Pflegewirkung und dazu noch der sehr günstige Preis geradezu eine heilige Dreifaltigkeit bilden:-).
Kleine Anekdote zum Schluss: Bei der ersten Flasche habe ich mich gewundert, warum sie so rasch leer wurde. Bis mein Vater fragte, wo ich das tolle Aftershave her habe..;-). Er hat das "Alpa Windsor" ebenfalls regelmäßig mitbenutzt, und nun bekommt er es immer wieder von mir zum Geburtstag, an Ostern und Weihnachten geschenkt.
The company Alpa a.s. was founded in 1913 in the then Austro-Hungarian monarchy in the Moravian town of Brno. The only product of the company at that time - the ALPA rubbing alcohol - was such a hit, that in 1938 there were 196 employees necessary to meet the demand. After the second World War the company moved in 1948 to the city of Velké Mezirici. Today Alpa is one of the oldest and most prestigious cosmetics manufacturers in the Czech Republic. For fans of original nostalgic scents from the imperial era, the supply of Alpa as a true treasure trove. One can find here after shaves and eau de colognes with the scent of violet, lily of the valley, clove, Classique or Fougere.
