Compared to many other matt products, Lockhart's Fire & Brimstone Matte Clay is not waterbased, it is based on beeswax. This results in an almost natural pomade, with hair care properties, some texture and low shine.

A little more force is required for the removal, but as soon as the upper layer is broken it becomes creamier and more supple. Rubbed between the hands, a clay typical stickiness can be felt without appearing dry. You should add the Clay in small scoops, and if necassary, use a blow dryer for a better spreading. Structure and texture are not quite as strong as you know from a very dry Clay. A good medium hold and a nice texture is already offerd. As with a classic pomade, you can always style your hair with your fingers or a comb without losing your hold.

Due to the beeswax base and four nourishing oils, the clay is not completely matt, but offers a healthy shine. Washing out is easy, despite the traditional ingredients, and done in one wash with shampoo.

The popular "Fire & Brimstone" fragrance in the Matte Clay Pomade is a bit milder than in the other pomades of the series. The contained kaolin and bentonite add a slightly earthy note. It's like sitting next to a stack of freshly chopped wood around the campfire.
