The motif has been legendary for over 10 years and can even be found on the Murray's 50-50 Pomade: a cartoon wolf that could have been drawn by Tex Avery. The Murray's Wolf is not only wilder, but also has a shiny Elvis quiff between its pointed ears. It stands on a solid orange circle, flanked on the left and right by the black card spade symbol, with an "M" and "Detroit" - the headquarters of Murray's. Murray's is the oldest pomade manufacturer in the USA and one of the best known and most popular in the world. Mr. C. D. Murray, owner of a barbershop in Chicago, founded the "Murray's Superior Products Company" in 1925. The company's principles were simple: produce a good product and offer it at a fair price. In 1947, a family friend, pharmacist Harry Berlin from Detroit, took over the company. Today, his grandchildren Jim, Jeff and John run Murray's. According to; the founder's credo: "...most small companies and brands are disappearing these days, but we will continue our business - because what was important to us back then for our customers still applies today: products that keep what they promise." To this day, Murray's has remained a family business from Michigan / USA with pomades from the 1920s, 1930s and 1950s, among others.
