Uppercut" is a term from boxing. In the 1930s/40s, the young Willy O'Shea earned the nickname "Uppercut O'Shea" when he earned his money boxing as a teenager. In 1930, just 15 years old, he came from Ireland to Sydney and toured Australia for almost ten years, fighting in the boxing ring week after week. Despite the difficult times and the hard Sports, Willy O'Shea always made an effort to look well-groomed and therefore always carried a clean tie and a can of homemade pomade. Willy's legacy lives on today through Uppercut Pomade, an Australian family business dedicated to making you look as well-groomed as Willy did.
