Today it has almost been forgotten. But in the 1920s and 1950s, hair tonic was as important as aftershave. A hair tonic was kept in the bathroom in the morning to invigorate the head before shaving and to prepare the hairstyle for the obligatory pomade. In barbershops, a hair tonic massage was the crowning glory of a haircut. And in the summer, hair tonics with menthol and eucalyptus - such as Osage Rub, Don Draper Hair Tonic Blue or Don Draper Hair Tonic Blue - offered cooling relief for the head and even pain relief for mosquito bites.

What is the effect of Don Draper Hair Tonic? In the 1920s and 1950s, it was called such a strong cooling hair tonic is "ice water". And so the Don Draper Hair Tonic also offers a long-lasting, refreshing, cooling feeling when rubbed onto the scalp. It makes combing easier, evaporates faster than water and leaves behind a pleasant scent of menthol and the Don Draper After Shave Blue. Applied in the morning, the hair smells wonderfully fresh all day long and into the evening.

The Don Draper Hair Tonic prevents excessive oil and dandruff formation and even promotes hair growth. Thanks to the menthol it contains, the scalp not only feels particularly fresh, but the hair roots are also stimulated. Menthol has a cooling, anti-itching and pain-relieving effect. It also has an antibacterial effect, which helps to inhibit the growth of microorganisms on the scalp.

In summer, the Don Draper Hair Tonic can also help with insect bites and itching thanks to the menthol it contains.

The aroma of the Don Draper Hair Tonic is taken from the Don Draper After Shave Blue. And so the scent is fresh and masculine and spicy, but the high menthol and eucalyptus content in the Don Draper Hair Tonic is the first thing the user notices: refreshingly mentholated like a cough drop in winter. And that's right, because for that reason alone the Don Draper Hair Tonic is not for sensitive heads. Especially in winter it is like a little ice bomb on the scalp.

Preparation:

In order for the Don Draper Hair Tonic to work best, the scalp must be briefly stimulated and the blood supply increased. To do this, massage the scalp briefly but vigorously with your fingertips. Apply firm, but not rough, pressure. The fingertips should reach the scalp.

Application

on the head: Carefully place the bottle opening on the right side parting line - carefully so that not too much flows out - and pull a 5 cm long "strip" of Hair Tonic. Now repeat the same on the left side parting. Now rub the Don Draper Hair Tonic into the scalp and hair with vigorous movements for 10-50 seconds. For a stronger hold, add the Don Draper Pomade to the hair and comb and brush the hair into the desired shape with a Don Draper hairbrush.

Application on the palm of the hand:

Pour about a teaspoon, a little more if you have a lot of hair, of Don Draper Hair Tonic into the palm of your hand, moisten your hair with it and rub it into the scalp and hair with vigorous movements until it dries. Now add the Don Draper Pomade to the hair for more hold and comb and brush the hair into the desired shape with a Don Draper hairbrush.

Application in barbershops:

In barbershops from the 1930s to the 50s, the application of a hair tonic was a relaxing and gratifying procedure for the customer. To ensure that the Don Draper Hair Tonic was better absorbed by the scalp, the barber placed a hot, damp and wrung-out towel on the upper part of the head to open the pores. Once the towel had cooled, he would swap it for a second hot towel. Once that towel had cooled, he would remove it from the head and apply the Don Draper Hair Tonic as described above, massaging it into the client's scalp. Finally, the hair was combed into shape and the hairstyle was perfected with a hairbrush.

Important: Avoid eye contact, as the menthol and eucalyptus contained in it irritate the eyes.
