Brillantina Linetti – Italian Hair Oil with a Classic Lavender Fragrance La Dolce Vita for the hair: Liquid Brillantina Linetti has been made in Italy since 1946. This traditional hair oil makes dry or flyaway hair feel smoother, creates an elegant silky shine and surrounds it with the brand’s unmistakable warm lavender fragrance. Ideal for relaxed summer hairstyles and polished Italian styles of the 1950s. Presented in a nostalgic glass bottle. Made in Italy. Brillantina Linetti is a classic of Italian hair care. Since 1946, it has represented smooth, polished hair and a distinctive fragrance that immediately recalls Italy and the elegant men’s grooming of the post-war era. As a liquid brilliantine, it provides very little traditional styling hold. Instead, it smooths the hair, improves pliability and creates silky shine. It is particularly suitable for fine to normal hair, relaxed side parts and hairstyles intended to look polished without becoming rigid. An Italian Grooming Classic Since 1946 During the 1950s and 1960s, brilliantines were part of the daily hair-care routine of many Italian men and women. They smoothed flyaway hair, created elegant shine and gave the hairstyle a well-groomed fragrance. Brillantina Linetti was produced for decades first in Venice and later in Turin. The brand also secured its place in Italian popular culture through its well-known television advertising during the 1960s. The atmosphere recalls Italy’s classic black-and-white films: light summer suits, scooters, pavement cafés and carefully combed side parts. A touch of La Dolce Vita captured in a small glass bottle. Smoothness and Silky Shine The liquid oil-based formula coats the hair lightly and smooths its surface. Dry, dull or flyaway hair appears calmer, smoother and better groomed. The level of shine can be controlled through the amount used. A few drops create subtle, natural-looking silky shine. A more generous application to slightly damp hair produces the polished finish associated with classic Italian hairstyles. Because the brilliantine does not harden, the hair remains movable and can be recombed or brushed at any time. Very Light Control for Natural Hairstyles Brillantina Linetti is primarily a hair oil rather than a strong styling product. It provides only very light control, smoothing protruding hairs and supporting the hairstyle’s natural shape. On fine to normal hair, this may be sufficient for relaxed side parts and swept-back styles. Pompadours, tall quiffs and thick or unruly hair will require an additional, firmer pomade. Which Hairstyles Is Brillantina Linetti Suitable For? Relaxed summer hairstyles with natural movement Classic Italian side parts Swept-back styles with silky shine Smoothing flyaway and protruding hairs As a shine-enhancing finish over a firmer pomade Fine to normal hair Grooming a shaved or closely cropped scalp Warm Italian Lavender Fragrance The fragrance is led by classic lavender and has a warmer, more floral character than many cool aromatic English lavender products. Soft powdery and subtly spicy impressions complete the composition. The fragrance remains pleasantly noticeable in the hair and conveys the polished character of Italian men’s grooming from the 1950s and 1960s. The brilliantine contains no alcohol and does not dry to a hard finish. Brillantina Linetti or Linetti Solida? Liquid Brillantina Linetti is the lighter version. It primarily provides smoothness and shine, with very little hold. This makes it especially suitable for fine to normal hair and relaxed, movable hairstyles. Brillantina Linetti Solida has a pomade-like consistency and provides light to medium hold. It is the more suitable choice for traditional side parts and slickbacks requiring additional control as well as shine. The formerly available Brillantina Linetti Spray is no longer produced. Directions Dispense a few drops into the palm, spread between the hands and work evenly through dry or slightly damp hair. Begin with a small amount and add further drops only when required. Applied to dry hair, the brilliantine smooths flyaways and creates subtle silky shine. Used in slightly damp hair, it distributes particularly evenly and creates a stronger, more unified polished finish. Shape the hair with a comb or hairbrush. A natural-bristle brush distributes the hair oil especially evenly and prevents individual sections from receiving too much product. Combine with Don Draper for Additional Hold When greater control is required, choose Don Draper Men’s Pomade. It provides medium to firm, flexible hold and classic shine. Apply Don Draper Pomade first as the shaping base, then use a few drops of Linetti for additional shine and lavender fragrance. For thick or unruly hair, Don Draper Pomade Strong provides more powerful control. A very small amount of Brillantina Linetti can then be applied over the completed hairstyle as a shine-enhancing finish. Use the Don Draper Premium Comb to section and shape the hairstyle precisely. A Don Draper hairbrush made with pure boar bristles distributes brilliantine and pomade evenly and creates a smooth finish without separated, oily strands. An Alternative with an Iconic Fragrance: Sweet Georgia Brown Those who prefer a warmer, powdery and spicy scent instead of a pure lavender character can choose one of the Sweet Georgia Brown Pomades. Their iconic fragrance combines impressions of rose, lavender, spices, citrus and vanilla and has been one of the most legendary compositions in pomade culture since the 1930s. Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic improves manageability, provides moisture and gives the hair very light control and natural shine. It is a suitable choice when conditioning and fragrance are desired with a less oily feel than a traditional liquid brilliantine. English Lavender Alternative: Yardley Yardley English Lavender Brillantine is a suitable secondary alternative for enthusiasts of traditional lavender fragrances. Linetti represents warm Italian lavender and the spirit of the 1950s, while Yardley offers a traditionally English interpretation of lavender. Both products provide smooth shine for classic men’s hairstyles but differ in their fragrance character. Together, they offer an appealing comparison between Italian and English brilliantine traditions. Washing Out As a traditional hair oil, Brillantina Linetti is not water-soluble. When used sparingly, however, it is easier to remove than a firm oil-based pomade. For thorough cleansing, first massage shampoo into dry or only slightly damp hair. Allow it to work briefly, add water, create a lather and rinse carefully. For mild regular cleansing, use Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo. Its gentle formula cleanses the hair and scalp, while conditioning coconut oil derivatives support a smooth hair feel. Packaging Brillantina Linetti is presented in a clear glass bottle with a nostalgic label and a ribbed pale-green screw cap. The design recalls Italian grooming products of the 1950s and 1960s. The bottle opening allows generous application. For fine or short hair, however, it is advisable to begin with only a few drops dispensed into the palm. Caution For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not apply to an irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Protect the glass bottle from impact and store it upright.
