Brillantina Linetti is a cult product from Italy. This hair oil has been manufactured almost unchanged since 1946, and luckily it is still available in many drugstores in Italy. This liquid brilliantine makes the hair supple, silky and shiny, and gives it a warm lavender scent. Gregory Peck certainly smelled of Linetti in 1953 when he charmed Audrey Hepburn in the beautiful romantic film "Roman Holiday". Available in a 50 ml and 75 ml glass bottle.

Brillantina Linetti is a traditional hair care brand from Italy. No other product embodied the longing for well-groomed, healthy and shiny hair in post-war Italy like it did. The famous Italian "ragazzi" and lovers made this brilliantine and the unmistakable Linetti lavender scent known outside of Italy as well. Nevertheless, Linetti remained a national brand. The brilliantines were manufactured for decades in Venice, later in Turin.

Linetti also remained true to its original product range. These lavender hair care products are available as hair oil (Brillantina Linetti), as pomade (Brillantina Linetti Solida) and as a spray (Brillantina Linetti Spray). Only a styling cream is no longer manufactured.

Like Brylcreem in Great Britain or Brisk in Germany, a new generation is now discovering this great classic. In the 1960s, Brillantina Linetti achieved its final breakthrough and nationwide popularity thanks to the detective series Carosello and a line from the main character, Inspector Rock, played by Cesare Polacco: "I also made a mistake. I never used Brillantina Linetti." With that, the likeable man with a mustache and receding hairline (!) wrote himself into Italian television history. This is probably why this hair care product is, paradoxically, an insider tip among bald men and is respectfully and enthusiastically presented in numerous internet clips.

The brilliantine is stored in a beautiful, clear bottle with a 1960s-style label and a ribbed, light green screw cap. The whole thing is also packaged in a green cardboard box. The opening of the bottle makes it clear: you can and should use a lot of this brilliantine.

Consistency and Scent

Brillantina Linetti is liquid and oily. The scent is similar to that of Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine, but has a warmer, more floral tone of vanilla, clove, and lavender. In Italy, this scent is considered an absolute classic. The brilliantine contains no alcohol and, apart from the fragrances, is free of any chemicals.

Application

Massage into slightly damp to wet hair. This is when Brillantina Linetti works best. The more brilliantine you use, the more the hair will be styled and the shine enhanced. The shine changes from intense to elegantly silky within about an hour, while the style remains. The light hold also encourages you to move your head casually and without too much fuss. And if a strand of hair does stray, just reach for your comb. A hairbrush is also very helpful for achieving shine and a smooth, strand-free style.
