The Italian city of Milan is not only famous for its fashion brands like Prada, Armani, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, but has been famous for years for the Europe's pioneer in traditional Gentlemen's salons — Hiro's Barbershop.
"Do what you love and you won't have to work a single day in your life" — this was the maxim of Hiroshi Vitanza, better known as Hiro. Since his childhood in Italy, Hiro was fascinated by the passion and the knowledge about the craftsmanship of the barber. Hiro learned the profession as a barber from an old-school 70-years-old master. In 2002 his dream became reality — years before barbering got trendy in Europe — with his own "Hiro's Barbershop", the first barber shop of Europe situated in the Italian fashion city Milan. Here, classic gentleman haircuts and the almost forgotten tradition of barber salons were reawakened.
Just like the Italian immigrants influenced the image of barber shops in the USA of the 1930s and 50s, Hiro influenced the traditional art of barbering in Italy and Europe with Hiro's Barbershop.
Hiro's Barbershop became — though at first derided as an exotic — a mainstay of classic haircuts. Not only in Italy, but in Europe and even worldwide. As one of the first, he prevailed against the mass of "5-Euro-haircut-salons" and raised the flag for high quality gentleman haircuts.
Till today, Hiro's Barbershop is like an Italian espresso bar or just like an old school barber shop: familiar, bustling, full of life and old scents, clipping noises, loud discussions, customers reading newspapers and Rock'n'Roll music. But Hiro and his team don't act up and cut hair for men, women and kids of every age, no matter what kind of haircut — and charge a fair price.
Today Hiro's Barbershop is seen as the number 1 barber in Italy and even as one of the best worldwide. Moreover Hiro's is one of the most popular barber shops besides Schorem in Europe.
After almost 20 years of experience, Hiro eventually developed his own styling products for beard and hair. Produced in cooperation with Italian cosmeticians and focused on the traditional profession of barbering, his products under the name "Barber Mind" unite everything a barber has in his mind: passion for his profession, tradition, demand for highest quality, innovation, style and creativity. And all 100% made in Italy.
The idea for his modern pomades came from Hiro's tattoo and the characteristic ink colors of a tattoo-artist: red, white, blue and black. The beard products are inspired by the styles of music that revolutionized the USA in the 30s and 40s: Bebop and Swing. Both genres were innovative and yet remained true to their roots — the Jazz. That is exactly what Hiro looked for: stay true to tradition and yet create new things.
The Barber Mind products consist of four pomades and four beard products.
