A light, nostalgic floral-tart fragrance.
Scents floral-tart with a light honey note and leaves a mild powdery aroma on the skin. Produced by the traditional Czech company ALPA.
In 1918, World War 1 came to an end, and the wild twenties were in the starting blocks. A new fragrance was to accompany them: The fragrance was called "Chypre" named after the island of Cyprus, from which many of the ingredients of this perfume came - "Chypre" in French. The fragrance was not new, but with fragrance composition perfumer Francois Coty created a new class of fragrances. For in the following decades there were Chypre fragrances from quite big perfume houses, such as Guerlain, Chanel, Rochas or Estée Lauder. Even Calvin Klein's CK-One from 1994 is a fresh, citrusy chypre fragrance.
The fragrance
The scent of the Alpa Chypre is reminiscent of the Alt-Innsbruck EdC. However, it is much milder, more subtle. The Alpa Chypre cologne smells aromatic yet mild, floral-sweet musk, with a warm base note. The scent doesn't seem to last all day, and you soon hear only a gentle powdery hint of musk-vanilla aromas on your skin. And this lasts for a couple of hours.
For whom is the fragrance
- For nostalgics
- For ladies and gentlemen
The application
Alpa Chypre is applied like a typical cologne. A couple of drops or several spritzes are applied to the neck, cheeks or on the handkerchief. As an aftershave, the Alpa Chypre is less suitable. The 80% contained are likely to burn quite a bit on the one hand. On the other hand, no skin-soothing care substances are included, such as glycerin, allantoin or menthol.
The packaging
The sturdy-looking glass bottle supports the originality of this cologne. The label is yellow, with a romantic brown oval frame in the center of which dances the silhouette of a naked lady. the lettering "ALPA" and "KOLINSKA VODA" (engl.: cologne) are in dark green.

The company Alpa a.s. was founded in 1913 in the then Austro-Hungarian monarchy in the Moravian town of Brno. The only product of the company at that time - the ALPA rubbing alcohol - was such a hit, that in 1938 there were 196 employees necessary to meet the demand. After the second World War the company moved in 1948 to the city of Velké Mezirici. Today Alpa is one of the oldest and most prestigious cosmetics manufacturers in the Czech Republic. For fans of original nostalgic scents from the imperial era, the supply of Alpa as a true treasure trove. One can find here after shaves and eau de colognes with the scent of violet, lily of the valley, clove, Classique or Fougere.
