Product information "Sweet Georgia Brown Metal Sign"

Sweet Georgia Brown Metal Sign – Premium Vintage Advertising, Made in Germany

A premium Sweet Georgia Brown advertising sign made from extra-strong sheet steel. Its richly coloured artwork, inspired by classic American pomade advertising, is embossed on several levels and enhanced by a gently curved shape for an especially dimensional appearance. With rounded corners and four pre-drilled mounting holes. Perfect for barbershops, bathrooms, dressing rooms, hair salons and collections. Made in Germany.

The Sweet Georgia Brown Metal Sign brings the unmistakable charm of classic American grooming advertising to the wall. Bearing the words “Sweet Georgia Brown – Hair Dressing Pomade,” it celebrates a brand renowned since 1934 for legendary pomades, iconic packaging and one of the best-known fragrances in international pomade culture.

Whether displayed in a professional barbershop, a home bathroom or a private collection, the sign creates a distinctive nostalgic accent. At a glance, it shows that classic grooming and authentic vintage style have found their proper home.

A Legendary Brand in a Classic Advertising Style

Sweet Georgia Brown originally formed part of the range created by the Valmor Products Company of Chicago. The brand’s vivid colours, bold figures and instantly recognisable artwork made its packaging and advertising particularly distinctive as early as the 1930s.

This metal sign captures that characteristic advertising style. Its strong colours and nostalgic typography evoke historical American barbershops, drugstores and beauty shops, where highly visible branded signs told customers which grooming products were available inside.

Multi-Level Embossed Artwork

The artwork is not simply printed onto the surface. Lettering, contours and selected details are embossed into the stable sheet steel on several levels. This gives the design an attractive three-dimensional quality and a noticeably premium appearance.

The gentle curvature provides additional stability and makes the artwork appear particularly lively. Rich colour printing creates clear contrasts and ensures that the sign remains an eye-catching feature even when viewed from a distance.

Extra-Strong and Durable Sheet Steel

The sign is manufactured from especially robust sheet steel. Its substantial material, cleanly finished edges and rounded corners provide a high-quality feel and excellent durability.

Unlike thin decorative signs, it feels solid and retains its shape. This makes it an excellent choice for permanent displays, busy barbershops and private rooms furnished with carefully selected vintage pieces.

Quick and Easy to Mount

Four pre-drilled holes in the corners make installation straightforward. Depending on the mounting surface, the sign can be attached to a wall, door or retail fixture using screws, nails or suitable hooks.

Its practical 20 × 30 cm dimensions require relatively little wall space while remaining large enough to display the artwork and Sweet Georgia Brown lettering to full effect.

Ideal for Barbershops and Retailers

In a barbershop or hair salon, the sign serves not only as decoration but also as an elegant brand marker. It lets customers know that Sweet Georgia Brown products are available and encourages them to discover this historic grooming name.

It looks particularly effective beside a display of Sweet Georgia Brown Pomades, Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic or Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo, creating a coordinated retail presentation with authentic historical character.

Sweet Georgia Brown comb

Sweet Georgia Brown Pocket Comb – Extremely Flexible Nylon Comb in a 1930s Style A compact, exceptionally flexible nylon comb with two tooth spacings and a gold-coloured Sweet Georgia Brown imprint. Made in Germany, this pocket comb combines the classic grooming style of the 1930s with excellent shape retention and virtually unbreakable flexibility. Its deliberately grippy teeth comb reliably through fine, thick and pomaded hair while providing precise styling away from home. Made in Germany. The Sweet Georgia Brown Pocket Comb is a dependable styling tool for anyone who appreciates classic pomade hairstyles and authentic vintage design. Measuring approximately ten centimetres in length, it fits comfortably into a trouser, jacket or waistcoat pocket and is always within reach when a side part, slick back or pompadour needs refreshing. Its black body, traditional shape and gold-coloured Sweet Georgia Brown lettering recall classic gentlemen’s combs from the 1930s. At the same time, its flexible nylon provides the resilience and everyday practicality expected from a modern quality comb. Traditionally Manufactured by RING Kamm The Sweet Georgia Brown Comb is produced by RING Kamm, a traditional German manufacturer founded in 1931. It is made using a classic pressing process employed for decades to create durable, elastic and shape-retaining nylon combs. A particularly distinctive detail is the gold-coloured Sweet Georgia Brown lettering. It is applied by hand using a traditional stamping technique of the kind already used to decorate quality gentlemen’s combs during the 1930s. This combination of historical production methods, classic design and functional material creates a comb that perfectly complements the heritage of the Sweet Georgia Brown range. Extremely Flexible and Virtually Unbreakable The comb is made from exceptionally flexible nylon. The material can bend considerably before returning to its original shape. It therefore withstands the demands of daily use and being carried in a pocket considerably better than rigid, brittle plastic combs. Despite its flexibility, it remains sufficiently stable to guide and control the hair. The durable material is also resistant to heat and many chemicals commonly encountered in professional hairdressing. Two Tooth Spacings for Versatile Styling The Sweet Georgia Brown Pocket Comb features both coarse and fine tooth sections. This makes it suitable for different hair types and several stages of the styling process. Coarse teeth: For initial combing, detangling and distributing Hair Tonic or pomade evenly. Fine teeth: For precise partings, smooth sides and a clean, controlled finish. The combination of both tooth spacings makes the comb a versatile companion for fine, normal and thick hair as well as short to medium-length men’s hairstyles. Grippy Teeth for Pomade Hairstyles The teeth are deliberately made with slightly more grip. They engage the hair reliably instead of merely passing over its surface. This allows even dense or already pomaded hair to be combed through, sectioned and shaped with control. The secure grip is particularly helpful when creating classic hairstyles such as the slick back, side part, executive contour and pompadour. It distributes pomade evenly, controls individual sections and helps create a clean, precise parting. Those with a particularly sensitive scalp should use light pressure and avoid pressing the tips of the teeth directly against the skin. Ideal for the Barbershop and Travel Measuring approximately 10 × 3 cm, the comb fits easily into a trouser, jacket or waistcoat pocket. It is equally suitable for refreshing a hairstyle during the day and for professional use in a barbershop. Its black finish and gold-coloured lettering give it an elegant, understated vintage appearance. The comb is therefore not only a practical styling tool but also an appropriate accessory for enthusiasts of traditional men’s grooming. Benefits at a Glance Compact pocket comb in a 1930s style Extremely flexible, elastic and virtually unbreakable Shape-retaining and durable in daily use With coarse and fine tooth sections Suitable for fine, normal and thick hair Ideal for distributing and restyling pomade Grippy teeth for controlled, precise styling Resistant to heat and many chemicals Gold-coloured Sweet Georgia Brown lettering stamped by hand Traditionally produced in Germany by RING Kamm Ideal for pockets, wash bags and barbershops Directions Begin by combing the hair with the coarse section, distributing Hair Tonic or pomade evenly if required. Use the fine section to create the parting, smooth the sides and add precision to the finished hairstyle. To refresh the style while away from home, guide the comb through the hair using controlled strokes. When wearing an oil-based pomade, combing alone is often sufficient to restore the hairstyle. The Complete Sweet Georgia Brown Styling Routine For improved manageability and the iconic fragrance, first massage Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic through the hair and over the scalp. Follow with a Sweet Georgia Brown Pomade and use the coarse section of the comb to distribute it evenly. Use the fine teeth to create a precise parting and the clean finish of a classic hairstyle. For thorough yet mild cleansing, use Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo. Cleaning and Care Regularly remove hairs and visible product residue from between the teeth. When required, wash the comb with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Extremely flexible nylon comb with coarse and fine tooth sections. With gold-coloured Sweet Georgia Brown lettering stamped by hand. Produced by RING Kamm, established in 1931. Made in Germany. Dimensions: approximately 10 × 3 cm

Sweet Georgia Brown HAIR TONIC 500 ml

Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic – Classic Hair Tonic with One of Grooming History’s Most Legendary Fragrances A classic hair tonic featuring the iconic Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance that has captivated generations of pomade enthusiasts since 1934. Its exceptionally complex composition of rose, lavender, spices, citrus, vanilla and a warm, subtly resinous base has become one of the most legendary fragrances in international pomade and grooming history. The tonic refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and provides natural shine with very light, flexible control. With glycerin, Coconut Oil Esters, creatine, allantoin and menthol. Made in the Czech Republic, EU, using the original fragrance oil produced in the USA. Some fragrances are simply pleasant. Others become the unmistakable signature of an entire era. The Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance unquestionably belongs to the second category. Since its introduction in 1934, it has represented glossy pomade styles, impeccable grooming and the incomparable character of classic American grooming products. Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic brings this iconic fragrance back in the form of a traditional hair tonic. It combines the distinctive scent experience with a modern formula that refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and leaves the hair feeling smooth with a naturally polished shine. A Fragrance Legend Since 1934 Sweet Georgia Brown formed part of the range created by the Valmor Products Company, founded in Chicago in 1926. Valmor produced skin creams, hair products, perfumes, powders, hair colours and pomades. Regardless of the product category, however, fragrance was almost always at the heart of the Valmor experience. During the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, a richly fragranced grooming product was far more than a minor cosmetic detail. It could convey luxury, modernity, confidence and impeccable personal presentation. Valmor understood this better than almost any other manufacturer and gave its products unusually distinctive fragrance compositions. Of the numerous fragrances created by the company, Sweet Georgia Brown became the great favourite. Officially registered in 1934, it developed into the signature and most recognisable element of the product line. Customers returned to it generation after generation—not only because of the styling performance of its famous pomades, but particularly because of this unmistakable aroma. One of the Most Legendary Fragrances in the Pomade World Sweet Georgia Brown is not a simple blend of only a handful of notes. It is an exceptionally intricate perfume composition comprising almost 100 individual components. At its heart are Damask rose, lavender, cinnamon, clove, lemon peel, pine and vanilla, set against a warm, lightly powdery, spicy and subtly resinous base. The result is warm and floral, yet spicy, elegant and richly dimensional. The gentle sweetness of rose and vanilla meets aromatic lavender, lively citrus and traditional spices. Pine and warm resinous accords provide structure and give the fragrance its unmistakable historical character. Although the composition includes soft and floral facets, it smells distinctive, polished and classically masculine in the hair. It does not resemble a generic modern fragrance. Instead, it possesses a recognisable signature and a genuine sense of history. A Fragrance with Irresistible Presence During the 1980s, Sweet Georgia Brown became an insider favourite within the rock ’n’ roll scene. Contemporary enthusiasts recall US soldiers stationed in Germany arriving at concerts with gleaming quiffs styled with Sweet Georgia Brown pomade. Even before people knew which product they were using, its distinctive, impeccably groomed fragrance attracted attention—and frequently considerable admiration. Sweet Georgia Brown retains that special presence today. Its aroma is noticeable and full of character without smelling ordinary. It conveys warmth, elegance and confidence while standing apart from the often interchangeable fresh scents found in modern hair products. Made with the Original Fragrance Oil from the USA This Hair Tonic uses the original Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance oil made in the United States. At approximately 3%, the fragrance concentration is exceptionally generous for a hair tonic. The product can therefore be appreciated not only as part of a grooming routine, but almost as a refined fragrance for the hair. The scent is clearly noticeable immediately after application and then develops harmoniously in the hair. Its warm, powdery and spicy facets remain present for many hours, revealing themselves gently whenever the hair moves or catches a passing breeze. Refreshment, Care and Very Light Control Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic is far more than scented water. It refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and gives the hair a smooth, well-groomed appearance with natural shine. The control is deliberately very light and flexible. It does not harden the hair, create a sticky film or prevent restyling. The hair can be rearranged at any time with a comb, brush or fingers. This makes the tonic ideal for relaxed, natural hairstyles, refreshing an existing style and preparing the hair for a traditional pomade. The menthol provides only a subtle sense of freshness. This is not an intensely cooling “ice water” tonic; its principal qualities are its fragrance, smooth hair feel and traditional grooming ritual. Selected Conditioning Ingredients Glycerin supports a smooth hair feel and helps dry-looking hair appear more conditioned. Coconut Oil Esters provide softness and natural, elegant shine without leaving a heavy layer of oil. Creatine complements the modern hair-care formula and supports a strong, well-conditioned appearance. Allantoin is known for its soothing properties and complements the scalp-care formula. Menthol creates a pleasant, restrained sensation of freshness during the massage. A Traditional Hair Tonic Rather Than a Modern Grooming Tonic Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic was deliberately developed in the tradition of classic hair tonics. Unlike many modern grooming tonics, it contains no PVP or acrylate styling polymers designed to set or harden the hair. Instead, it focuses on the qualities for which a traditional hair tonic has been appreciated for generations: a conditioned hair feel, improved manageability, natural shine, an invigorating scalp massage and an exceptional fragrance. The product is also free from silicones and parabens. Ideal for Devotees of the original Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance Enthusiasts of classic pomades and traditional men’s grooming Refreshing the hair and scalp every day Naturally polished hairstyles with very light control Preparing the hair for oil- or water-based pomades Refreshing a pomade style the following morning Traditional barbershop hair-tonic massages Anyone seeking a warm, spicy and unmistakable fragrance Directions Dispense a small amount into the palms or apply it directly to the scalp. Massage thoroughly through the hair and over the scalp, then shape the hair with a comb or brush. In towel-dried hair, the tonic improves smoothness and prepares the hair for subsequent styling. In dry hair, it is excellent for refreshing a style, adding natural shine and rearranging hair that has already been styled. Because of its generous fragrance concentration, begin with a modest amount and add more if required. The Traditional Barbershop Ritual For an especially authentic experience, place a warm, damp and thoroughly wrung-out towel over the head for one or two minutes. The comfortable warmth helps create a relaxing preparation for the scalp massage. Massage Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic carefully into the scalp using the fingertips. Arrange the hair with a comb and finish with a natural-bristle hairbrush. The fragrance unfolds particularly vividly during the massage, transforming everyday hair care into a classic grooming ritual. The Complete Sweet Georgia Brown Grooming Routine For stronger hold, follow with a Sweet Georgia Brown Pomade. The Hair Tonic improves manageability and makes it easier to distribute the pomade evenly. Their fragrances also complement one another, creating a particularly harmonious and longer-lasting Sweet Georgia Brown experience. The following morning, refresh and reshape the hairstyle with a small amount of Hair Tonic. For thorough cleansing, use Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo to prepare the hair and scalp for the next application. Caution For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not apply to irritated or damaged skin. Keep out of reach of children. Presented in a premium 500 ml glass bottle. Booklet "How to give Haircuts" (1958)

How to Give Haircuts at Home! – Rare 1950s American Haircutting Manual A high-quality reprint of a rare American barbering booklet originally published in 1958. US barber Howard Jones provides step-by-step instructions for essential haircutting techniques and six of the most popular men’s and boys’ haircuts of the 1950s. Illustrated with 69 vintage black-and-white photographs, seven drawings and four original advertisements. “How to Give Haircuts at Home!” is a little treasure for barbers, Rockabilly enthusiasts and anyone interested in classic men’s hairstyles. Written by American barber Howard Jones in 1958, the 48-page booklet shows how authentic haircuts of the period were actually created. Rather than offering a modern interpretation of 1950s style, the manual presents genuine instructions from the era. Numerous photographs and drawings demonstrate the individual stages, making this booklet an unusual historical reference for traditional barbering techniques. The Fundamentals of Haircutting Howard Jones begins by introducing the essential principles of haircutting. He presents the necessary equipment, explains how to handle scissors, combs and clippers, and demonstrates fundamental cutting techniques that remain familiar in barbershops today. Additional sections cover important “Do’s and Don’ts” and the intriguingly titled “Three Secrets of Haircutting”. The booklet therefore provides more than instructions for individual styles: it also offers a fascinating glimpse into American barbering education during the late 1950s. The Six Most Popular Haircuts of 1958 The Regular Boy’s Haircut: A versatile all-round style for boys between eight and fifteen years old. The Teenager’s Haircut: A classic 1950s haircut for teenagers and young adults. The Trim: The traditional maintenance cut for men of all ages, demonstrated on a family father. Clipper All the Way Around: A fully clipper-cut style that was particularly popular among older gentlemen with grey or white hair. The Flattop Butch: A highly fashionable short haircut for teenagers and adults from the mid-1950s onward. The manual also explains the differences between a Flattop Butch, Regular Butch and Crew Cut. The Regular Butch: An exceptionally short, practical haircut recommended at the time for younger boys. Vintage Advice on Hair Tonics and Lanolin In the final section, Howard Jones answers common hair-care questions of the period. He discusses what could be done about dull-looking hair, what a typical hair tonic contained and how lanolin was used in grooming products. These short explanations turn the booklet into a particularly interesting historical document. They reveal the importance of hair tonics, styling creams and pomades in everyday 1950s grooming – at a time when complete ingredient declarations were not yet commonplace. Featuring Original Advertisements Four original advertisements for hair tonics and styling creams complement the haircutting instructions. They provide an authentic impression of American men’s grooming products and advertising design during the late 1950s. Who Is This Booklet For? Barbers and hairdressers interested in historical cutting techniques Fans of flattops, crew cuts and authentic 1950s hairstyles Rockabilly, vintage and Fifties enthusiasts Collectors of historical barbering and grooming literature Anyone looking for an unusual gift for a pomade or barbershop fan Readers who would like to explore the history of pomades, hair tonics, styling creams and traditional hairbrushes in even greater depth will find the perfect companion in Stan Soldan’s German-language reference work “Das Pomade-Buch”, featuring 320 pages and more than 250 historical images. High-quality reprint of the 1958 booklet. 48 pages with laminated softcover and staple binding. Featuring 69 black-and-white photographs, seven drawings and four vintage advertisements. Language: English. Dimensions: 148 × 210 mm.

Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil SHAMPOO 250 ml

Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo – The Legendary Coconut Oil Shampoo with a Conditioning Effect Since 1936 A conditioning shampoo inspired by the golden age of American barbershops. Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo first appeared in 1936 and remained part of the Valmor range for decades. This modern revival combines mild sugar- and amino-acid-based cleansing agents with emulsified coconut oil derivatives to leave the hair clean, smooth and naturally shiny. Featuring one of the most legendary fragrances in pomade and grooming history—warm, gently sweet, spicy and lightly powdery, but expressly not coconut-scented. Free from silicones and parabens. Made in the Czech Republic in accordance with EU standards. After an absence of more than 40 years, an extraordinary piece of American hair-care history has returned. Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo was first offered in 1936 by the celebrated Valmor Products Company of Chicago. Alongside Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Dressing Pomade, it became one of the company’s most popular products. The shampoo appears in historical Valmor catalogues from the 1930s through the 1960s and even in the company’s final catalogue from 1981. Following the sale of Valmor to R. H. Cosmetics of New York in 1984, it disappeared from the market. The historic classic is now available once again—with a modern, exceptionally mild formula, the legendary Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance and a faithful reproduction of its iconic 1936 label. A Classic for Women and Men The historical Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo was already marketed to both women and men. Today’s revival is likewise suitable for almost every hair type and for anyone seeking gentle cleansing, a smooth hair feel and an exceptional fragrance in one product. The shampoo was deliberately not developed as an aggressive degreasing product. Instead, it cleanses the hair and scalp thoroughly without unnecessarily stripping away their natural oils and moisture. This makes it an excellent choice for regular washing and for hair that feels dry, dull or difficult to comb after frequent styling. The Iconic Sweet Georgia Brown Fragrance—Not a Coconut Scent The name may initially suggest otherwise, but Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo does not smell of coconut. The name refers to the conditioning coconut oil derivatives in the formula and to the product’s historical 1936 identity. Instead of a tropical coconut aroma, the shampoo carries the unmistakable Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance. Known since 1934, this composition has become one of the most legendary and significant fragrances in international pomade and grooming history. The fragrance combines Damask rose, lavender, lemon peel, cinnamon, clove, pine and vanilla with a warm, lightly powdery and subtly resinous base. It is gently sweet and floral, yet spicy, elegant and richly dimensional. Although it includes soft floral facets, it creates a polished, distinctive and classically masculine impression in the hair. The warm fragrance unfolds as the shampoo lathers, transforming an everyday wash into a nostalgic grooming ritual. After rinsing, it remains pleasantly and subtly noticeable in the hair. Why Is It Spelled “Cocoanut”? The word “Cocoanut” does not refer to a different type of nut and has nothing to do with cocoa. It is an older American spelling of the modern word “coconut” that remained in use in the United States during the first half of the twentieth century. Because the present label faithfully recreates the historical 1936 design, the original spelling has also been retained. It is a deliberate and authentic detail of the product’s heritage. Gentle Cleansing with Sugar- and Amino-Acid-Based Surfactants The formula uses two high-quality, mild cleansing agents: Decyl Glucoside and Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate. They remove dirt, perspiration, excess sebum and light to moderate styling residue without unnecessarily drying the hair. Decyl Glucoside is an exceptionally mild sugar-based surfactant well suited to gentle, regular cleansing. Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is an amino-acid-based surfactant valued for its mild character and the pleasantly soft feel it leaves on the skin and hair. During application, the shampoo creates a creamy lather that distributes easily and rinses away thoroughly. After washing, the hair feels clean and conditioned rather than rough, squeaky or excessively stripped. Emulsified Coconut Oil Derivatives Instead of Heavy Pure Oil The historical product was described as an “Emulsified Cocoanut Oil Shampoo.” Emulsified means that the conditioning components derived from coconut oil are finely and stably incorporated into the formula. They are not present as a heavy layer of pure oil that would be difficult to rinse away and could leave the hair greasy or weighed down. In the modern formula, Coconut Oil Glycereth-8 Esters provide this conditioning action. They support a soft, smooth hair feel, improve manageability and help control frizz and flyaways without leaving behind a heavy greasy film. Glyceryl Oleate, glycerin and vitamin E complement the conditioning formula. After washing, the hair falls more softly, displays a natural shine and remains pleasantly mobile. The result is a light conditioning effect without the use of silicones. How the Hair Feels After Washing During testing, the result was described as smoother, less frizzy and softer falling hair. It feels conditioned and easier to comb while remaining light and free from unnecessary weight. This balanced result is particularly welcome after using pomade, clay or other styling products. The hair is cleansed but retains sufficient smoothness to be styled again easily with Hair Tonic or pomade. Key Ingredients Coconut Oil Glycereth-8 Esters: Emulsified coconut oil derivatives that support softness, manageability and natural shine. Decyl Glucoside: A mild sugar-based surfactant for the gentle cleansing of the hair and scalp. Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate: An amino-acid-based surfactant that provides a pleasantly mild skin and hair feel. Glycerin: Supports the moisture balance and helps prevent the hair from feeling excessively dry. Glyceryl Oleate: A replenishing conditioning ingredient that contributes to a soft, smooth finish. Tocopherol and Tocopheryl Acetate: Forms of vitamin E that complement the conditioning formula. Benefits at a Glance Revival of the historical Valmor Cocoanut Oil Shampoo from 1936 Available again after an absence of more than 40 years Featuring the legendary Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance dating back to 1934 Warm, gently sweet, spicy and lightly powdery scent Expressly does not smell of coconut Gentle cleansing with sugar- and amino-acid-based surfactants With conditioning, emulsified coconut oil derivatives Light conditioning effect without silicones Improves smoothness and manageability Helps control frizz and flyaways Provides natural shine without a heavy greasy film Suitable for women, men and almost every hair type Ideal for regular hair washing Removes light to moderate styling residue Free from silicones and parabens Not an Aggressive Degreasing Shampoo Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo was deliberately formulated as a mild, conditioning shampoo rather than a strongly stripping deep cleanser. It is suitable for regular hair washing and removes everyday impurities together with light to moderate residue from pomade and other styling products. For heavier residue or several accumulated layers of firm oil-based pomade, a second wash is recommended. Particularly stubborn pomade build-up may additionally require a dedicated degreasing or clarifying shampoo. Directions Wet the hair thoroughly with warm water. Dispense a small amount of shampoo into the palms and massage it evenly through the hair and over the scalp until a creamy lather develops. Rinse carefully with clean water. For heavier styling residue, massage in and rinse out the first application. Follow with a second, smaller amount, lather again and rinse thoroughly. The historical label recommended using the shampoo once or twice per week. Thanks to its modern, mild formula, it may also be used regularly according to the hair type, styling routine and individual requirements. The Complete Sweet Georgia Brown Grooming Routine After washing, massage a small amount of Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic through the hair and over the scalp. It improves manageability, provides very light control and intensifies the iconic fragrance. For a classic hairstyle, follow with a Sweet Georgia Brown Pomade and shape the hair using a comb or brush. The Shampoo, Hair Tonic and Pomade complement one another to create a complete Sweet Georgia Brown grooming ritual. The Historical Label by Charles C. Dawson A particularly notable feature is the faithfully reproduced 1936 front label. Its design is based on the work of Charles C. Dawson, an important African American artist and graphic designer of his era and one of the defining creative figures behind Valmor’s visual identity. Dawson’s style was richly coloured, bold and highly stylised. His use of vivid colours, iconic figures and an immediately recognisable visual language anticipated design elements that would later be associated with Pop Art. The couple pictured inside the opened coconut became one of the best-known images in the historic product range. Today’s packaging preserves this extraordinary design, making the Shampoo a genuine visual as well as functional piece of American grooming history. Das Pomade-Buch

Das Pomade-Buch – The World’s Only Specialist Book About Pomades and Hair Tonics The comprehensive reference work on authentic hair styling and grooming products from the 1920s to the 1950s. Across 320 richly illustrated pages, author and PomadeShop founder Stan Soldan explores the history of pomades, hair tonics, hair creams and natural-bristle brushes. Featuring more than 250 historical advertisements and vintage and contemporary product images. High-quality second-edition hardcover with sewn binding. Written entirely in German. Das Pomade-Buch was the world’s first and remains the only comprehensive specialist book devoted entirely to the history of traditional pomades, hair tonics and related grooming products. It has been created for enthusiasts of classic men’s grooming as well as curious readers, collectors, barbers, hairdressers and anyone wishing to understand the origins of modern hairstyling. Author Stan Soldan is one of the pioneers of the modern pomade revival in Europe. In 2008, he founded PomadeShop, the first specialist store for classic hair styling products, and played a major role in introducing an almost forgotten grooming product to a new generation. Years of research, historical advertising, rare product images and first-hand experience gained while building PomadeShop form the foundation of this exceptional reference work. Authentic hair styling products from the 1920s to the 1950s For many decades, pomade was the essential styling product for well-groomed hairstyles. It shaped side parts, slick backs, pompadours and carefully arranged waves long before hair gel, hairspray and modern styling waxes entered the market. Das Pomade-Buch explains how products, hairstyles, advertising and grooming habits changed throughout the decades. Its subject is not limited to pomade but encompasses the entire world of classic hair care, from hair tonics and brilliantines to hair creams and traditional natural-bristle brushes. What you will discover The history of pomade and its most important manufacturers Authentic hair styling products from the 1920s to the 1950s Traditional oil-based pomades and their different degrees of hold Hair tonics, hair oils, brilliantines and hair creams Classic men’s hairstyles and historical styling routines The role of natural-bristle brushes in grooming, shine and shaping Historic packaging, tins, bottles and label designs More than 250 vintage advertisements and historical and modern product images Background knowledge gathered through years of research and practical experience Insights into the rediscovery of pomade and the creation of PomadeShop More than a reference book Das Pomade-Buch is simultaneously a cultural history, illustrated volume and personal journey of discovery. Historical advertisements and product images reveal the importance once placed on well-groomed hair, an attractive fragrance and an immaculate appearance. The book recalls a time when hair care was a deliberate daily ritual. Products were carefully selected, used economically and worked precisely into the hair with a comb or brush. It is therefore also a tribute to craftsmanship, durable products and a tradition-conscious approach to grooming. Who is Das Pomade-Buch for? Pomade and hair-tonic enthusiasts Barbers, hairdressers and barbering students Collectors of historical grooming products and advertising Fans of the 1920s to the 1950s Enthusiasts of classic men’s hairstyles Readers interested in cultural, design and advertising history Anyone wishing to learn about sustainable and traditional hair care A high-quality gift for gentlemen, barbers and pomade enthusiasts About the author Stan Soldan Stan Soldan rediscovered pomade as “the hair gel of our grandparents” at a time when this traditional styling product had almost completely disappeared from public awareness. By founding PomadeShop in 2008, he made traditional pomades and hair tonics accessible again in Europe. His meticulous search for historical products, forgotten brands, vintage advertisements and authentic application techniques eventually led to the creation of this book. The focus is not the author himself but the fascinating history of the products. Every pomade tin, hair-tonic bottle and natural-bristle brush tells a story of past beauty ideals, craftsmanship and a distinctive grooming culture. Reviews from the press “The new bible for men”CUTwalk, one of Germany’s largest professional hairdressing magazines, issue 04/2017 “Definitely belongs on the bookshelf”Barber’s Quarterly, issue 12/2017 “Old Fashioned”Kulturnews, issue 12/2017 “A must for every man”Twisted Male Mag, issue 12/2017 From history to your own grooming routine Anyone wishing to experience classic hair care rather than merely read about it will find a suitable interpretation of 1950s and 1960s men’s grooming in the Don Draper range. Its hair tonics, pomades, aftershaves and brushes bring many of the rituals described in the book into the present day. Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic continues the tradition of 1930s American barbershop grooming. Combined with classic Sweet Georgia Brown pomades and a natural-bristle brush, it demonstrates how traditional hair care, fragrance and styling once formed a complete daily ritual. High-quality production The second edition is presented as a large-format hardcover with durable sewn binding. This high-quality construction ensures that the book remains stable even when frequently read and consulted. Its 210 × 270 mm format provides ample room for the historical advertisements and product photography. Across 320 pages, it becomes both a comprehensive reference work and a decorative collector’s item.
