The Royal Crown Hair Dressing is a legendary pomade. It has been made according to the same recipe in the USA since 1951. In the 1950s it shone on the heads of the greatest Rock and Roll stars. And still today it is one of the most fascinating pomades in the USA. It is similar to the Royal Crown Men's Pomade from 1938, which is a bit stronger and has an amazing sweet scent.
In the fifties, the Royal Crown was so famous that in 1956 it was even promoted in a refreshing and enthusiastic way by the Rock and Roll legend Little Richard. His commercial can be found on the CD "Shag on Down By Union Hall" as number 15. It surely can also be found on YouTube.
The Royal Crown Men's Pomade is a must just because of the beautiful packaging. But the fact that it was used by the greatest music stars of the 1950s is an absolute no brainer.
The effect
This soft pomade gives an excellent, light to medium hold and a really brilliant shine without looking greasy or oily to the touch. It also improves the hair structure and dry, brittle hair gets softer and more supple. Even if you really put a lot in your hair, the hairstyle does not look oily or heavy, but incomparably well-groomed and super shiny. The Royal Crown gives the hairstyle a nice hold for the whole day. And if you should go wild, simply pull out the comb and style your hair back in shape.

The Royal Crown Hair Dressing is best for short to medium long hair. It is perfect for hairstyles that are layed back (slickback) in the style of the 1930-40s. If you like Rock'n Roll, you will love this pomade !! Like the Royal Crown Pomade, it gives a divine sheen in the style of the 1950s and nice hold, as you know it from Rock'n Roll star pictures of this era. For a very strong hold or short hairstyles, such as crew cuts or flat tops, you should use something stronger, such as Murray's Superior, DAX Wave & Groom or Dapper Dan Strong. The Royal Crown gives curly hair a beautiful shine and emphasizes the curls, but it is too soft to tame. You should rather go for firmer pomades, such as Black & White, Nu Nile, DAX Green & Gold. Or with very firm pomades, such as DAX Wave & Groom, Dapper Dan Strong, Murray's Superior or those from High Life: High Life Heavy, Voodoo Brew or Voodo Brew 2.

The packaging
The Royal Crown used to be until recently packed in a cardboard box with a bottom and lid made of light sheet metal. Since the old packaging manufacturer does not exist anymore, the Royal Crown Hair Dressing is packed in a plastic tin. However, this ingenious pomade tempts to put a lot in the hair. But that doesn't hurt at all.
Consistency and fragrance
The Royal Crown has a soft consistency. The color is light, waxy, almost glassy. The scent is subtle, but still present and reminfs of a leather wax with a hint of lime or even of a shaving powder of an old US barbershop.
The application
Take a finger of the Royal Crown Pomade. Rub it between your fingers or palms. And after shampooing, massage into the damp hair - from the hair root to the tip of the hair. Repeat this 3-4 times and then comb into the desired shape. The pomade can of course also be used wonderfully on dry hair.
1.) If you have moved too much and a strand of hair should dance out of line, no problem: comb through your hair a couple of times and your hairstyle is back in shape.
2.) You'll get even more shine by using a traditional hairbrush, which distributes the pomade better on the hair surface and gives the hairstyle a patent leather look.
