Pinaud Clubman EAU DE PORTUGAL Hair Tonic

One of the bestselling hair tonics of the 19th century. Ideal for thin hair. (Without preservatives. Made in USA. Content: 12 1/2 fl. oz. (370 ml)
Description

Product information "Pinaud Clubman EAU DE PORTUGAL Hair Tonic"

One of the most popular hair tonics of the 19th century

A hair tonic made from Portuguese citrus fruits for fine hair. It has a refreshing scent of mandarin, lime, sweet orange, and bitter orange. The hair tonic stimulates the scalp, eliminates dandruff, and imparts a wonderful scent. Eau de Portugal is suitable for refreshing and preparing all hair types for pomade, or as a styling product for fine hair.

The Effect

Eau de Portugal (lit. “Portuguese Water”) refreshes, stimulates blood circulation in the scalp, and imparts a fresh scent to the hair. It serves as a sort of hair wash substitute (like a liquid dry shampoo). The alcohol it contains cleanses the scalp surface of excess oil. It can also be used for light styling or as a preparation for pomade. The glycerin and citrus oils ensure smooth skin and refreshed hair without leaving it greasy or weighing it down.
Like Eau de Quinine, it can also be used as an aftershave, a light summer fragrance, or as a body refresher on hot days (body splash). There is hardly a traditional perfumer who does not have “Eau de Portugal” and “Eau de Quinine” in their lineup.

The Fragrance

The fragrance is light, summery, and very refreshing, combining notes of mandarin, sweet orange, bitter orange, and lime. It makes you want to take a sip right from the bottle, so strongly does it evoke a French bitter orange liqueur.

The packaging

The travel-friendly, lightweight plastic bottle used to be made of glass, of course. However, the neck of this bottle is not unbreakable, so please handle the bottle and its precious contents with care. The beautiful, nostalgic label has remained virtually unchanged. Above the flower basket typical of Ed. Pinaud stands—now with a nostalgic feel—“Hygiene de la tête,” meaning “head hygiene.”

Application

Eau de Portugal is used daily in the morning or as needed instead of washing your hair. To do this, place the bottle opening directly against the scalp and apply one spritz at a time. Repeat this evenly over the head 3–4 times. Then massage the scalp and hair with your fingertips. The Hair Tonic and the massage revitalize, refresh, and stimulate blood circulation in the scalp.
To achieve a styling effect, massage the hair and scalp until the hair feels almost dry. Now comb and brush the hair into the desired style.

The Hair Tonic comes in a clear plastic bottle with a red screw cap.

Super Duft, verfliegt allerdings schnell; Inhaltsstoffe fraglich

Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine

The world's most famous lavender pomade from London. Green, soft and extremely elegant This legendary, unique Brilliantine (soft pomade) has been made for over 100 years. Its scent of lavender, lemon and oak moss is legendary, addictive and was also the epitome of English hair care in Germany for decades. It is truly a pomade miracle that this icon - despite all trends - has made it into the 21st century in a nostalgic glass jar. The "Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine" is a traditional pomade from one of the oldest and most respected manufacturers of bath and body care products in London. The Brilliantine (or "Brillantine") was invented in 1873 by the French perfumer Eduard Pinaud. He called it Brilliantine (from the French "brillant" = shining) and presented it to the world at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. It consisted of perfumed Vaseline and was used for hair, beards and moustaches to give them suppleness and a well-groomed and shiny appearance. Like the Sweet Georgia Brown, the Yardley Brilliantine immediately captivates you: the elegant glass jar, the tiny nostalgic label and the warm, sweet and refreshing lavender scent that you want to sniff all day long. It's almost a miracle that this Brilliantine still exists. Although it was a synonym for English body care in Germany for decades, it is still hardly available today. Even on the manufacturer Yardley's website you have to search for a long time. The Brilliantine is really extraordinary and once you've fallen for it, you'll stay loyal to it for the rest of your hair life. This little green fairy is a must-have in any pomade collection. The effect The Yardley Brilliantine is actually a lavender field that has become pomade. Once you have unscrewed the golden aluminum lid with the label of a lavender bouquet seller, it is too late: the lush green pomade attracts your nose like a magnet and the unforgettable, calming, warm scent of the lavender fields of England has transported you to dreamland. Hold, shape or shine are completely irrelevant with the Yardley Brilliantine. Because once you have this soft pomade in your hair, you are enchanted by a relaxing, stress-relieving and at the same time aristocratic and elegant scent all day long. You therefore do not need an additional perfume with this wonderful Brilliantine. When you enter a room, this beautiful scent announces you elegantly and quietly - just like a gentleman. Which hairstyles is this product suitable for? The Yardley Brilliantine offers light to medium hold and a natural, silky shine. It doesn't make your hair look oily or over-styled, but rather "well groomed". This pomade is soft and perfect for a classic, timeless hairstyle. It is also easy to wash out. Who is this product suitable for? For thin and normal hair  For men in their prime For lovers of well-groomed, classic hairstyles without looking too styled For the aristocrat in men For fans of the Victorian era The packaging The Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine looks like it came from a Victorian antique shop. It's just unbelievable that something so beautiful is still being produced in today's plastic world full of "Ultra", "Strong" and "Shock". The Brilliantine is packaged in a clear glass jar (!) with a small, embedded label and a gold-colored screw-on lid made of aluminum. In the 1950s, glass jars were still common for pomades and hair creams, such as Brylcreem, but Yardley - in glass since 1962 - has made it into the 21st century. From the inside, the green Brilliantine presses against the glass walls and its pleasant size makes it look both innocent and seductive. Consistency and scent The Brilliantine is soft, similar to Royal Crown Hair Dressing, and a lush green. When you unscrew the jar, the surface looks like green piano lacquer. And if you dip your finger in, the pomade looks like shiny, delicately ridged glass. Although it is soft, it does not feel greasy. Its scent is clear, lemony, refreshing and timeless, with notes of lavender, bergamot, rosemary, eucalyptus, geranium, sage, cedarwood, moss and musk. You really find yourself unscrewing this little glass jar again and again to enjoy the fascinating aroma. Application: Best used on towel-dried hair. Distribute a finger full of Brilliantine evenly between your fingers and massage into the hair and scalp. Then comb into the desired shape. DON DRAPER Hairbrush with handle "XL"

High-quality handle hairbrush by Don Draper. Made in Germany For thin and normal hair. Made in Germany from real pear wood and pure, dark natural bristles. With the Don Draper logo. Traditional hairbrush with handle. With the Don Draper branding. Made by one of the oldest hairbrush manufacturers in Germany. Made from oiled pear wood and with 10 rows of pure, dark natural bristles. A luxurious hairbrush in a classic rounded shape, made from polished pear wood and with firm boar bristles. Gently cares for the hair and scalp, distributes the natural hair oils to the hair tips and gives the hair a beautiful shine. Brushes like this were used in the 1920s and 1950s to make hair shine even more. A hairbrush for all hair types, from thick to normal to thin hair. The firm, dark boar bristles glide gently through the hair and also massage your scalp to stimulate blood circulation. Boar bristles are made from the same protein as human hair and are therefore particularly gentle on the hair and scalp. With this Don Draper hairbrush, your hair will look well-groomed again.Tip: The secret to the glamorous hairstyles of the 1920s-50s is an oil-based pomade or hair tonic and a hairbrush with soft boar bristles, such as the Don Draper hairbrush. The high-quality, soft bristles are not only suitable for styling hair, but also for caring for the ends of the hair and giving the hair more volume. Use in the morning: In the morning, when you get up, use a Don Draper hairbrush instead of a comb. You will be surprised at how accurately the hairbrush brings the sleepy hair back into shape with just a few brush strokes. At the same time, the scalp is supplied with blood and the natural sebum is distributed, giving your hair a healthy, natural shine. Application for even more shine: Use a soft pomade or an oil-based hair tonic. Comb the hair forwards, then backwards to better distribute the styling product. Then comb the desired hairstyle. To give your hair even more shine, take the hairbrush and run it over your hair several times - especially on the sides. This hairbrush is perfect for slicked back hairstyles. This is how to care for the Don Draper bristle hairbrush: As soon as the shine of the hairbrush starts to fade, it's time to clean it. Remove hair from the brush by lifting it out from the side with a comb or the Don Draper brush cleaner. Move back and forth in soapy water and rinse under cold water. Do not soak as the bristles will absorb water and damage the wood. Shake off excess moisture and place the brush on a towel with the bristles facing down. Allow the brush to air dry and do not apply additional heat. For generations, high-quality bristles have been used from Indian and Chinese wild boar, which are known for their natural strength and elasticity. The quality of the bristles is judged by their stiffness. The highest quality and most expensive bristles are located close to the body. To reach all layers of hair, right down to the scalp, Dapper Dan uses different grades and mixtures of bristles. These are suitable for penetrating the different hair structures, whether fine, normal or thick. Real bristles ensure good hair care in many ways. First and foremost, they keep the hair clean. When viewed under a microscope, the surface of a bristle resembles the scales of a fish. When a hairbrush made of natural bristles is pulled through a head of hair, these tiny overlapping scales act like a comb, combing each hair tightly. This cleans the hair follicles of dirt, dust and grease. Natural bristles will never damage human hair, as both are made of the same protein. More elasticity, fullness and strong hair The gentle pulling of the sebaceous glands stimulates this delicate skin oil and distributes it throughout the hair, from root to tip. This creates natural shine, fullness and elasticity, and prevents split ends. This cannot be achieved with a comb alone. If used regularly to stimulate the scalp, brushes made of natural bristles also stimulate hair growth. Made in Germany Size: 230 x 63 mm

Eau de Quinine Hair Tonic

Pinaud Clubman EAU DE QUININE Hair Tonic

The oldest hair tonic and a bestseller from Ed. Pinaud since 1810 When Edouard Pinaud opened his world-famous perfumery in Paris in 1810, one product stood out among his specialties: “Eau de Quinine.” This wine-red, quinine-infused scented hair tonic became such a bestseller that, when hygiene became fashionable worldwide around 1900, over 150,000 bottles of Eau de Quinine from Ed. Pinaud were sold each month. Eau de Quinine has a mysterious, bitter-refreshing-sweet scent of quinine, roses, and lavender. It is used as a hair tonic, aftershave, and even as a body refresher. WARNING: Do not use on light-colored hair, as it may stain the hair. Eau de Quinine (French, pronounced: “Oh dö Kiehnien”; lit. quinine water) is, alongside Eau de Portugal, one of THE hair tonics of the 19th century. There was hardly a manufacturer of perfume or skincare products that did not have these two hair care products in their lineup. But with the “Ed. Pinaud” brand’s Eau de Quinine, you hold the original in your hands. Eau de Quinine revitalizes and cleanses the scalp, prepares it for pomade, and can also be used on its own as a light, oil-free styling product that subtly keeps hair in place all day long. It is also popular as an aftershave or body splash. In the 19th century, Eau de Quinine was used as a scented hair tonic and a substitute for shampoo (like a liquid dry shampoo). History Quinine is an effective muscle relaxant and was the first successful medicine against deadly malaria from the 17th century until the 1940s. It played a significant role in the colonization of Africa by Europeans by protecting them from malaria. And the British colonial rulers in India mixed tonic, a soft drink to which quinine imparted a bitter taste, with gin, thereby creating one of the most popular cocktails of all time. In the 19th century, Eau de Quinine became one of the most important hair care products. And not just in Europe, but also in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. At a time when shampoo had not yet been invented, this hair tonic served as a scalp cleanser. It removes excess oils from the scalp, binds loose dandruff, and ensures a clean scalp. The Packaging The travel-friendly, lightweight plastic bottle was, of course, originally made of glass. However, the neck of this bottle is not unbreakable, so please handle the bottle and its precious contents with care. The beautiful, nostalgic label has remained virtually unchanged. Above the flower basket typical of Ed. Pinaud stands—now with a nostalgic feel—“Hygiene de la tête,” meaning “head hygiene.” Consistency and Fragrance Eau de Quinine looks like a dark red wine and is just as fascinating. Once you’ve opened the red screw cap and taken a sniff (the fragrance unfolds better here than at the bottle opening), you’ll search in vain for words to describe this aroma. No, nothing comparable comes to mind. The scent is classically elegant, fruity-tart, refreshingly sweet, somehow familiar and yet mysterious. Application Hair tonics like Eau de Quinine are used daily in the morning or as needed instead of washing your hair. Sweet Georgia Brown HAIR TONIC 500 ml

Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic – featuring the original 1934 fragrance A hair tonic like back then—experienced anew. Featuring the original 1930s Sweet Georgia Brown scent, loved since 1934. A soothing men’s grooming ritual in the spirit of the 1930s that refreshes, invigorates, and cares for scalp and hair with timeless elegance. Traditionally made in the EU, original fragrance oil made in the USA. Since 1934, the name Sweet Georgia Brown has stood for classic pomade, immaculate style, and the unmistakable aroma of traditional barbershops. Before Sweet Georgia Brown became almost exclusively synonymous with pomade after 1984, the brand was part of the celebrated Valmor Products Company of Chicago in the 1930s and 1940s—famous for striking Art Deco labels, refined men’s grooming, and that authentic barbershop charm. Back then, the Sweet Georgia Brown range included pomades, brilliantine, hair tonics, and talcum powders—true American grooming staples. Today, the Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic picks up that thread as the brand’s first new release in decades: a return to elegant, scent-driven barbershop grooming. At the heart of this tonic is the aroma—by design. It contains around 3% of the original, oil-based Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance oil—made in the USA—at a concentration more familiar from eau-de-colognes. Warm, slightly sweet, powdery, and unmistakably elegant: a barbershop accord that evokes pomade sheen, leather chairs, talc, and the charm of the 1930s. But this tonic offers more than a great scent: it refreshes the scalp, enlivens the senses, and leaves a naturally groomed finish with very light hold. Coconut Oil Esters, Creatine, and Allantoin care for hair and scalp—ideal for daily use, quick touch-ups, or as a classic barber finish after a cut. Hero Ingredients & Benefits Coconut Oil Esters: Provide lasting moisture and natural shine. Creatine: Strengthens the hair fiber and improves elasticity. Allantoin: Soothes and calms the scalp while supporting regeneration. Menthol: Adds a subtle sense of freshness and enhances the invigorating feel on scalp and hair. Benefits Hydrates the hair and adds a healthy, natural shine. Removes buildup and product residue from scalp and hair. Improves combability, even in damp hair. Acts like a light leave-in conditioner – ideal for daily use. Refreshes and revitalizes both scalp and hair throughout the day – without a strong cooling effect. Free From Free from silicones, parabens, acrylates, and PVP polymers – ingredients commonly found in modern grooming tonics. A pure, traditional formulation focused on performance and authenticity. Effect When massaged into hair and scalp, the tonic delivers a pleasant freshness, a smooth feel, and an airy, well-groomed look without weighing hair down. It helps the comb glide, evaporates quickly, and lets the legendary scent linger subtly throughout the day—perfect for mornings or a mid-day refresh. Scent The original 1930s Sweet Georgia Brown scent—warm, slightly sweet, faintly spicy, and powder-elegant. It smells of Damascus rose, lavender, cinnamon, clove, citrus peel, pine and vanilla. Loved since 1934. A fragrance that instantly calls to mind classic barbershops, pomade gloss, and refined men’s grooming. How to Use Massage a small amount evenly into hair and scalp. Pinaud Clubman GREASELESS Hair Tonic

The Legendary Clubman Hair Tonic – Classic Hair Tonic from American Barbershops Oil-free hair tonic featuring the unmistakable fragrance of the famous Pinaud Clubman After Shave. Conditions hair and scalp, gives the hairstyle a well-groomed appearance, and provides a pleasantly fresh barbershop feeling. Made in the USA. For generations, Pinaud Clubman Greaseless Hair Tonic has been a staple of classic American barbershops. It combines the tradition of early 20th-century hair tonics with a timeless fragrance that remains one of the most recognizable men's scents in the world. Unlike traditional oil-based hair tonics, its grease-free formula leaves no oily residue in the hair. Instead, it promotes a clean, well-groomed appearance and a pleasantly lightweight feel. The alcohol content helps balance excess oil and residue from oil-based pomades, while glycerin protects both hair and scalp from drying out. The hair tonic is especially suitable for normal to fine hair. It provides structure, light control, and a polished appearance without weighing the hair down. For thick or coarse hair, it works exceptionally well as a pre-styler and preparation for pomades, hair creams, or other styling products. The true highlight, however, is the legendary Pinaud Clubman fragrance, identical to the famous Clubman Original After Shave. It is a scent that has been at home in American barbershops for decades, evoking images of freshly shaved gentlemen, luxurious leather chairs, and the atmosphere of classic gentlemen's clubs. The fragrance opens with fresh notes of orange, bergamot, lime, and lemon. The heart reveals elegant accents of jasmine, orange blossom, geranium, and lavender. The composition is rounded off with oakmoss and musk, which give the fragrance its unmistakable warmth, depth, and classic character. The fragrance essences are traditionally produced in France and then blended in the USA—a tradition that dates back to the origins of the Ed. Pinaud brand in 1810. The bottle itself radiates classic barbershop charm. Its nostalgic design featuring the famous Clubman dandy, top hat, and walking cane has been part of the brand's identity for decades. The ergonomic shape with thumb and finger grips also ensures secure handling during application. Ideal as a scalp treatment, light styling product, pomade base, or simply for enjoying the legendary Clubman fragrance. Directions: Apply generously to the hair and scalp. Massage thoroughly with your fingertips and comb the hair into the desired style. For added structure and an especially polished appearance, the use of a hairbrush is recommended. PomadeShop brings this great classic of American barbershop culture to Europe. Packaged in a classic plastic bottle featuring the nostalgic Clubman design.
