Description

Product information "Murray's Hair Glo Pomade"

Murray’s Hair-Glo – Legendary High-Shine Pomade for the Classic Wet Look

Legendary wax-free shine pomade from the 1920s with light hold and an intense wet-look finish. Its traditional formula of petrolatum, lanolin, coconut oil and fragrance leaves the hair smooth, controls flyaways and creates exceptional shine. Ideal for slick backs, classic side parts and as a high-shine finish over a firmer pomade. Made in the USA.

Murray’s Hair-Glo was developed in the 1920s as a wax-free pomade for superior shine and smoothly slicked-back hairstyles. While the legendary Murray’s Superior primarily focuses on strong hold, Hair-Glo is all about smoothness, flexible control and a glossy wet-look finish.

According to the ingredient declaration, its minimalist formula contains only four ingredients: petrolatum, lanolin, coconut oil and fragrance. Its soft consistency spreads effortlessly through the hair, making Hair-Glo an easy-to-use shine pomade for classic hairstyles, longer hair and dry-looking ends.

Hold, Shine and Finish

Hold: light

Shine: very high

Finish: smooth, flexible and glossy

Scent: mild and classic

Intense Shine for the Classic Wet Look

The greatest strength of Murray’s Hair-Glo is its intense, deep-looking shine. It smooths the hair’s surface and creates the polished wet look associated with classic men’s hairstyles from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Because the formula contains no shaping wax, its hold is deliberately light. The hair remains movable, smooth and easy to reshape at any time using a comb or brush.

Suitable For

  • Wet looks: for an intense, classic-looking shine
  • Slick backs: for smoothly combed and supple hair
  • Side parts: for elegant hairstyles with flexible hold
  • Longer hair: for smoothing and controlling individual sections
  • Dry-looking hair: for greater suppleness and visible shine
  • As a finishing pomade: for additional shine over a firmer pomade

Ideal as a Topper Over a Firm Pomade

Many pomade enthusiasts use Murray’s Hair-Glo as a topper or finishing pomade. First apply a firmer pomade such as Murray’s Superior or Murray’s X-Tra Heavy to create the hold and basic shape.

Then smooth a very small amount of Hair-Glo lightly over the finished hairstyle. This gives the hair an especially even, deep shine while largely preserving the hold of the pomade underneath.

Smooth Hair with Lanolin and Coconut Oil

Lanolin and coconut oil help leave the hair feeling smooth and make dry or dull-looking sections appear more polished. At the same time, the rich base gives the hair its characteristic shine.

Hair-Glo can also be used to control frizz, flyaways or dry-looking ends. Due to its rich formula, it should be applied sparingly, especially to fine hair.

Consistency and Scent

Hair-Glo has a very soft, smooth consistency and can be removed from the tin with virtually no resistance. It becomes instantly pliable between the palms and spreads evenly through the hair.

The scent is mild, classic and pleasantly understated, allowing the pomade to be combined easily with an aftershave or fragrance.

Application

Remove a very small amount from the tin with your fingertip and rub it between your palms. Work it evenly through dry or towel-dried hair, then shape the desired hairstyle using a comb or brush.

In towel-dried hair, the pomade spreads particularly easily and creates a pronounced wet look. In dry hair, it is ideal for smoothing flyaways and adding targeted definition to individual sections.

Always begin with the smallest possible amount. Gradually add more product if additional shine is required.

Washing Out and Buildup

As a traditional oil-based shine pomade, Murray’s Hair-Glo cannot be removed completely with water alone. Due to its soft, wax-free formula, however, it can be washed out more easily than Murray’s Superior or X-Tra Heavy.

Depending on the amount applied, one thorough shampoo wash will often be sufficient. A small amount of remaining product can be used as a styling foundation for the following day.

Packaged in a classic nostalgic metal tin.

Made in the USA.

Free from colourants and added preservatives.

Erstklassiger Glanz

Tut, was sie soll

Gutes Produkt - macht, was es soll

Das Pomade-Buch – The World’s Only Specialist Book About Pomades and Hair Tonics The comprehensive reference work on authentic hair styling and grooming products from the 1920s to the 1950s. Across 320 richly illustrated pages, author and PomadeShop founder Stan Soldan explores the history of pomades, hair tonics, hair creams and natural-bristle brushes. Featuring more than 250 historical advertisements and vintage and contemporary product images. High-quality second-edition hardcover with sewn binding. Written entirely in German. Das Pomade-Buch was the world’s first and remains the only comprehensive specialist book devoted entirely to the history of traditional pomades, hair tonics and related grooming products. It has been created for enthusiasts of classic men’s grooming as well as curious readers, collectors, barbers, hairdressers and anyone wishing to understand the origins of modern hairstyling. Author Stan Soldan is one of the pioneers of the modern pomade revival in Europe. In 2008, he founded PomadeShop, the first specialist store for classic hair styling products, and played a major role in introducing an almost forgotten grooming product to a new generation. Years of research, historical advertising, rare product images and first-hand experience gained while building PomadeShop form the foundation of this exceptional reference work. Authentic hair styling products from the 1920s to the 1950s For many decades, pomade was the essential styling product for well-groomed hairstyles. It shaped side parts, slick backs, pompadours and carefully arranged waves long before hair gel, hairspray and modern styling waxes entered the market. Das Pomade-Buch explains how products, hairstyles, advertising and grooming habits changed throughout the decades. Its subject is not limited to pomade but encompasses the entire world of classic hair care, from hair tonics and brilliantines to hair creams and traditional natural-bristle brushes. What you will discover The history of pomade and its most important manufacturers Authentic hair styling products from the 1920s to the 1950s Traditional oil-based pomades and their different degrees of hold Hair tonics, hair oils, brilliantines and hair creams Classic men’s hairstyles and historical styling routines The role of natural-bristle brushes in grooming, shine and shaping Historic packaging, tins, bottles and label designs More than 250 vintage advertisements and historical and modern product images Background knowledge gathered through years of research and practical experience Insights into the rediscovery of pomade and the creation of PomadeShop More than a reference book Das Pomade-Buch is simultaneously a cultural history, illustrated volume and personal journey of discovery. Historical advertisements and product images reveal the importance once placed on well-groomed hair, an attractive fragrance and an immaculate appearance. The book recalls a time when hair care was a deliberate daily ritual. Products were carefully selected, used economically and worked precisely into the hair with a comb or brush. It is therefore also a tribute to craftsmanship, durable products and a tradition-conscious approach to grooming. Who is Das Pomade-Buch for? Pomade and hair-tonic enthusiasts Barbers, hairdressers and barbering students Collectors of historical grooming products and advertising Fans of the 1920s to the 1950s Enthusiasts of classic men’s hairstyles Readers interested in cultural, design and advertising history Anyone wishing to learn about sustainable and traditional hair care A high-quality gift for gentlemen, barbers and pomade enthusiasts About the author Stan Soldan Stan Soldan rediscovered pomade as “the hair gel of our grandparents” at a time when this traditional styling product had almost completely disappeared from public awareness. By founding PomadeShop in 2008, he made traditional pomades and hair tonics accessible again in Europe. His meticulous search for historical products, forgotten brands, vintage advertisements and authentic application techniques eventually led to the creation of this book. The focus is not the author himself but the fascinating history of the products. Every pomade tin, hair-tonic bottle and natural-bristle brush tells a story of past beauty ideals, craftsmanship and a distinctive grooming culture. Reviews from the press “The new bible for men”CUTwalk, one of Germany’s largest professional hairdressing magazines, issue 04/2017 “Definitely belongs on the bookshelf”Barber’s Quarterly, issue 12/2017 “Old Fashioned”Kulturnews, issue 12/2017 “A must for every man”Twisted Male Mag, issue 12/2017 From history to your own grooming routine Anyone wishing to experience classic hair care rather than merely read about it will find a suitable interpretation of 1950s and 1960s men’s grooming in the Don Draper range. Its hair tonics, pomades, aftershaves and brushes bring many of the rituals described in the book into the present day. Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic continues the tradition of 1930s American barbershop grooming. Combined with classic Sweet Georgia Brown pomades and a natural-bristle brush, it demonstrates how traditional hair care, fragrance and styling once formed a complete daily ritual. High-quality production The second edition is presented as a large-format hardcover with durable sewn binding. This high-quality construction ensures that the book remains stable even when frequently read and consulted. Its 210 × 270 mm format provides ample room for the historical advertisements and product photography. Across 320 pages, it becomes both a comprehensive reference work and a decorative collector’s item. Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil SHAMPOO 250 ml

Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo – The Legendary Coconut Oil Shampoo with a Conditioning Effect Since 1936 A conditioning shampoo inspired by the golden age of American barbershops. Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo first appeared in 1936 and remained part of the Valmor range for decades. This modern revival combines mild sugar- and amino-acid-based cleansing agents with emulsified coconut oil derivatives to leave the hair clean, smooth and naturally shiny. Featuring one of the most legendary fragrances in pomade and grooming history—warm, gently sweet, spicy and lightly powdery, but expressly not coconut-scented. Free from silicones and parabens. Made in the Czech Republic in accordance with EU standards. After an absence of more than 40 years, an extraordinary piece of American hair-care history has returned. Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo was first offered in 1936 by the celebrated Valmor Products Company of Chicago. Alongside Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Dressing Pomade, it became one of the company’s most popular products. The shampoo appears in historical Valmor catalogues from the 1930s through the 1960s and even in the company’s final catalogue from 1981. Following the sale of Valmor to R. H. Cosmetics of New York in 1984, it disappeared from the market. The historic classic is now available once again—with a modern, exceptionally mild formula, the legendary Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance and a faithful reproduction of its iconic 1936 label. A Classic for Women and Men The historical Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo was already marketed to both women and men. Today’s revival is likewise suitable for almost every hair type and for anyone seeking gentle cleansing, a smooth hair feel and an exceptional fragrance in one product. The shampoo was deliberately not developed as an aggressive degreasing product. Instead, it cleanses the hair and scalp thoroughly without unnecessarily stripping away their natural oils and moisture. This makes it an excellent choice for regular washing and for hair that feels dry, dull or difficult to comb after frequent styling. The Iconic Sweet Georgia Brown Fragrance—Not a Coconut Scent The name may initially suggest otherwise, but Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo does not smell of coconut. The name refers to the conditioning coconut oil derivatives in the formula and to the product’s historical 1936 identity. Instead of a tropical coconut aroma, the shampoo carries the unmistakable Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance. Known since 1934, this composition has become one of the most legendary and significant fragrances in international pomade and grooming history. The fragrance combines Damask rose, lavender, lemon peel, cinnamon, clove, pine and vanilla with a warm, lightly powdery and subtly resinous base. It is gently sweet and floral, yet spicy, elegant and richly dimensional. Although it includes soft floral facets, it creates a polished, distinctive and classically masculine impression in the hair. The warm fragrance unfolds as the shampoo lathers, transforming an everyday wash into a nostalgic grooming ritual. After rinsing, it remains pleasantly and subtly noticeable in the hair. Why Is It Spelled “Cocoanut”? The word “Cocoanut” does not refer to a different type of nut and has nothing to do with cocoa. It is an older American spelling of the modern word “coconut” that remained in use in the United States during the first half of the twentieth century. Because the present label faithfully recreates the historical 1936 design, the original spelling has also been retained. It is a deliberate and authentic detail of the product’s heritage. Gentle Cleansing with Sugar- and Amino-Acid-Based Surfactants The formula uses two high-quality, mild cleansing agents: Decyl Glucoside and Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate. They remove dirt, perspiration, excess sebum and light to moderate styling residue without unnecessarily drying the hair. Decyl Glucoside is an exceptionally mild sugar-based surfactant well suited to gentle, regular cleansing. Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is an amino-acid-based surfactant valued for its mild character and the pleasantly soft feel it leaves on the skin and hair. During application, the shampoo creates a creamy lather that distributes easily and rinses away thoroughly. After washing, the hair feels clean and conditioned rather than rough, squeaky or excessively stripped. Emulsified Coconut Oil Derivatives Instead of Heavy Pure Oil The historical product was described as an “Emulsified Cocoanut Oil Shampoo.” Emulsified means that the conditioning components derived from coconut oil are finely and stably incorporated into the formula. They are not present as a heavy layer of pure oil that would be difficult to rinse away and could leave the hair greasy or weighed down. In the modern formula, Coconut Oil Glycereth-8 Esters provide this conditioning action. They support a soft, smooth hair feel, improve manageability and help control frizz and flyaways without leaving behind a heavy greasy film. Glyceryl Oleate, glycerin and vitamin E complement the conditioning formula. After washing, the hair falls more softly, displays a natural shine and remains pleasantly mobile. The result is a light conditioning effect without the use of silicones. How the Hair Feels After Washing During testing, the result was described as smoother, less frizzy and softer falling hair. It feels conditioned and easier to comb while remaining light and free from unnecessary weight. This balanced result is particularly welcome after using pomade, clay or other styling products. The hair is cleansed but retains sufficient smoothness to be styled again easily with Hair Tonic or pomade. Key Ingredients Coconut Oil Glycereth-8 Esters: Emulsified coconut oil derivatives that support softness, manageability and natural shine. Decyl Glucoside: A mild sugar-based surfactant for the gentle cleansing of the hair and scalp. Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate: An amino-acid-based surfactant that provides a pleasantly mild skin and hair feel. Glycerin: Supports the moisture balance and helps prevent the hair from feeling excessively dry. Glyceryl Oleate: A replenishing conditioning ingredient that contributes to a soft, smooth finish. Tocopherol and Tocopheryl Acetate: Forms of vitamin E that complement the conditioning formula. Benefits at a Glance Revival of the historical Valmor Cocoanut Oil Shampoo from 1936 Available again after an absence of more than 40 years Featuring the legendary Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance dating back to 1934 Warm, gently sweet, spicy and lightly powdery scent Expressly does not smell of coconut Gentle cleansing with sugar- and amino-acid-based surfactants With conditioning, emulsified coconut oil derivatives Light conditioning effect without silicones Improves smoothness and manageability Helps control frizz and flyaways Provides natural shine without a heavy greasy film Suitable for women, men and almost every hair type Ideal for regular hair washing Removes light to moderate styling residue Free from silicones and parabens Not an Aggressive Degreasing Shampoo Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo was deliberately formulated as a mild, conditioning shampoo rather than a strongly stripping deep cleanser. It is suitable for regular hair washing and removes everyday impurities together with light to moderate residue from pomade and other styling products. For heavier residue or several accumulated layers of firm oil-based pomade, a second wash is recommended. Particularly stubborn pomade build-up may additionally require a dedicated degreasing or clarifying shampoo. Directions Wet the hair thoroughly with warm water. Dispense a small amount of shampoo into the palms and massage it evenly through the hair and over the scalp until a creamy lather develops. Rinse carefully with clean water. For heavier styling residue, massage in and rinse out the first application. Follow with a second, smaller amount, lather again and rinse thoroughly. The historical label recommended using the shampoo once or twice per week. Thanks to its modern, mild formula, it may also be used regularly according to the hair type, styling routine and individual requirements. The Complete Sweet Georgia Brown Grooming Routine After washing, massage a small amount of Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic through the hair and over the scalp. It improves manageability, provides very light control and intensifies the iconic fragrance. For a classic hairstyle, follow with a Sweet Georgia Brown Pomade and shape the hair using a comb or brush. The Shampoo, Hair Tonic and Pomade complement one another to create a complete Sweet Georgia Brown grooming ritual. The Historical Label by Charles C. Dawson A particularly notable feature is the faithfully reproduced 1936 front label. Its design is based on the work of Charles C. Dawson, an important African American artist and graphic designer of his era and one of the defining creative figures behind Valmor’s visual identity. Dawson’s style was richly coloured, bold and highly stylised. His use of vivid colours, iconic figures and an immediately recognisable visual language anticipated design elements that would later be associated with Pop Art. The couple pictured inside the opened coconut became one of the best-known images in the historic product range. Today’s packaging preserves this extraordinary design, making the Shampoo a genuine visual as well as functional piece of American grooming history. Sweet Georgia Brown Metal Sign

Sweet Georgia Brown Metal Sign – Premium Vintage Advertising, Made in Germany A premium Sweet Georgia Brown advertising sign made from extra-strong sheet steel. Its richly coloured artwork, inspired by classic American pomade advertising, is embossed on several levels and enhanced by a gently curved shape for an especially dimensional appearance. With rounded corners and four pre-drilled mounting holes. Perfect for barbershops, bathrooms, dressing rooms, hair salons and collections. Made in Germany. The Sweet Georgia Brown Metal Sign brings the unmistakable charm of classic American grooming advertising to the wall. Bearing the words “Sweet Georgia Brown – Hair Dressing Pomade,” it celebrates a brand renowned since 1934 for legendary pomades, iconic packaging and one of the best-known fragrances in international pomade culture. Whether displayed in a professional barbershop, a home bathroom or a private collection, the sign creates a distinctive nostalgic accent. At a glance, it shows that classic grooming and authentic vintage style have found their proper home. A Legendary Brand in a Classic Advertising Style Sweet Georgia Brown originally formed part of the range created by the Valmor Products Company of Chicago. The brand’s vivid colours, bold figures and instantly recognisable artwork made its packaging and advertising particularly distinctive as early as the 1930s. This metal sign captures that characteristic advertising style. Its strong colours and nostalgic typography evoke historical American barbershops, drugstores and beauty shops, where highly visible branded signs told customers which grooming products were available inside. Multi-Level Embossed Artwork The artwork is not simply printed onto the surface. Lettering, contours and selected details are embossed into the stable sheet steel on several levels. This gives the design an attractive three-dimensional quality and a noticeably premium appearance. The gentle curvature provides additional stability and makes the artwork appear particularly lively. Rich colour printing creates clear contrasts and ensures that the sign remains an eye-catching feature even when viewed from a distance. Extra-Strong and Durable Sheet Steel The sign is manufactured from especially robust sheet steel. Its substantial material, cleanly finished edges and rounded corners provide a high-quality feel and excellent durability. Unlike thin decorative signs, it feels solid and retains its shape. This makes it an excellent choice for permanent displays, busy barbershops and private rooms furnished with carefully selected vintage pieces. Quick and Easy to Mount Four pre-drilled holes in the corners make installation straightforward. Depending on the mounting surface, the sign can be attached to a wall, door or retail fixture using screws, nails or suitable hooks. Sweet Georgia Brown HAIR TONIC 500 ml

Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic – Classic Hair Tonic with One of Grooming History’s Most Legendary Fragrances A classic hair tonic featuring the iconic Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance that has captivated generations of pomade enthusiasts since 1934. Its exceptionally complex composition of rose, lavender, spices, citrus, vanilla and a warm, subtly resinous base has become one of the most legendary fragrances in international pomade and grooming history. The tonic refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and provides natural shine with very light, flexible control. With glycerin, Coconut Oil Esters, creatine, allantoin and menthol. Made in the Czech Republic, EU, using the original fragrance oil produced in the USA. Some fragrances are simply pleasant. Others become the unmistakable signature of an entire era. The Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance unquestionably belongs to the second category. Since its introduction in 1934, it has represented glossy pomade styles, impeccable grooming and the incomparable character of classic American grooming products. Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic brings this iconic fragrance back in the form of a traditional hair tonic. It combines the distinctive scent experience with a modern formula that refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and leaves the hair feeling smooth with a naturally polished shine. A Fragrance Legend Since 1934 Sweet Georgia Brown formed part of the range created by the Valmor Products Company, founded in Chicago in 1926. Valmor produced skin creams, hair products, perfumes, powders, hair colours and pomades. Regardless of the product category, however, fragrance was almost always at the heart of the Valmor experience. During the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, a richly fragranced grooming product was far more than a minor cosmetic detail. It could convey luxury, modernity, confidence and impeccable personal presentation. Valmor understood this better than almost any other manufacturer and gave its products unusually distinctive fragrance compositions. Of the numerous fragrances created by the company, Sweet Georgia Brown became the great favourite. Officially registered in 1934, it developed into the signature and most recognisable element of the product line. Customers returned to it generation after generation—not only because of the styling performance of its famous pomades, but particularly because of this unmistakable aroma. One of the Most Legendary Fragrances in the Pomade World Sweet Georgia Brown is not a simple blend of only a handful of notes. It is an exceptionally intricate perfume composition comprising almost 100 individual components. At its heart are Damask rose, lavender, cinnamon, clove, lemon peel, pine and vanilla, set against a warm, lightly powdery, spicy and subtly resinous base. The result is warm and floral, yet spicy, elegant and richly dimensional. The gentle sweetness of rose and vanilla meets aromatic lavender, lively citrus and traditional spices. Pine and warm resinous accords provide structure and give the fragrance its unmistakable historical character. Although the composition includes soft and floral facets, it smells distinctive, polished and classically masculine in the hair. It does not resemble a generic modern fragrance. Instead, it possesses a recognisable signature and a genuine sense of history. A Fragrance with Irresistible Presence During the 1980s, Sweet Georgia Brown became an insider favourite within the rock ’n’ roll scene. Contemporary enthusiasts recall US soldiers stationed in Germany arriving at concerts with gleaming quiffs styled with Sweet Georgia Brown pomade. Even before people knew which product they were using, its distinctive, impeccably groomed fragrance attracted attention—and frequently considerable admiration. Sweet Georgia Brown retains that special presence today. Its aroma is noticeable and full of character without smelling ordinary. It conveys warmth, elegance and confidence while standing apart from the often interchangeable fresh scents found in modern hair products. Made with the Original Fragrance Oil from the USA This Hair Tonic uses the original Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance oil made in the United States. At approximately 3%, the fragrance concentration is exceptionally generous for a hair tonic. The product can therefore be appreciated not only as part of a grooming routine, but almost as a refined fragrance for the hair. The scent is clearly noticeable immediately after application and then develops harmoniously in the hair. Its warm, powdery and spicy facets remain present for many hours, revealing themselves gently whenever the hair moves or catches a passing breeze. Refreshment, Care and Very Light Control Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic is far more than scented water. It refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and gives the hair a smooth, well-groomed appearance with natural shine. The control is deliberately very light and flexible. It does not harden the hair, create a sticky film or prevent restyling. The hair can be rearranged at any time with a comb, brush or fingers. This makes the tonic ideal for relaxed, natural hairstyles, refreshing an existing style and preparing the hair for a traditional pomade. The menthol provides only a subtle sense of freshness. This is not an intensely cooling “ice water” tonic; its principal qualities are its fragrance, smooth hair feel and traditional grooming ritual. Selected Conditioning Ingredients Glycerin supports a smooth hair feel and helps dry-looking hair appear more conditioned. Coconut Oil Esters provide softness and natural, elegant shine without leaving a heavy layer of oil. Creatine complements the modern hair-care formula and supports a strong, well-conditioned appearance. Allantoin is known for its soothing properties and complements the scalp-care formula. Menthol creates a pleasant, restrained sensation of freshness during the massage. A Traditional Hair Tonic Rather Than a Modern Grooming Tonic Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic was deliberately developed in the tradition of classic hair tonics. Unlike many modern grooming tonics, it contains no PVP or acrylate styling polymers designed to set or harden the hair. Instead, it focuses on the qualities for which a traditional hair tonic has been appreciated for generations: a conditioned hair feel, improved manageability, natural shine, an invigorating scalp massage and an exceptional fragrance. The product is also free from silicones and parabens. Ideal for Devotees of the original Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance Enthusiasts of classic pomades and traditional men’s grooming Refreshing the hair and scalp every day Naturally polished hairstyles with very light control Preparing the hair for oil- or water-based pomades Refreshing a pomade style the following morning Traditional barbershop hair-tonic massages Anyone seeking a warm, spicy and unmistakable fragrance Directions Dispense a small amount into the palms or apply it directly to the scalp. Massage thoroughly through the hair and over the scalp, then shape the hair with a comb or brush. In towel-dried hair, the tonic improves smoothness and prepares the hair for subsequent styling. In dry hair, it is excellent for refreshing a style, adding natural shine and rearranging hair that has already been styled. Because of its generous fragrance concentration, begin with a modest amount and add more if required. The Traditional Barbershop Ritual For an especially authentic experience, place a warm, damp and thoroughly wrung-out towel over the head for one or two minutes. The comfortable warmth helps create a relaxing preparation for the scalp massage. Massage Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic carefully into the scalp using the fingertips. Arrange the hair with a comb and finish with a natural-bristle hairbrush. The fragrance unfolds particularly vividly during the massage, transforming everyday hair care into a classic grooming ritual. The Complete Sweet Georgia Brown Grooming Routine For stronger hold, follow with a Sweet Georgia Brown Pomade. The Hair Tonic improves manageability and makes it easier to distribute the pomade evenly. Their fragrances also complement one another, creating a particularly harmonious and longer-lasting Sweet Georgia Brown experience. The following morning, refresh and reshape the hairstyle with a small amount of Hair Tonic. For thorough cleansing, use Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo to prepare the hair and scalp for the next application. Caution For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not apply to irritated or damaged skin. Keep out of reach of children. Presented in a premium 500 ml glass bottle. Booklet "How to give Haircuts" (1958)

How to Give Haircuts at Home! – Rare 1950s American Haircutting Manual A high-quality reprint of a rare American barbering booklet originally published in 1958. US barber Howard Jones provides step-by-step instructions for essential haircutting techniques and six of the most popular men’s and boys’ haircuts of the 1950s. Illustrated with 69 vintage black-and-white photographs, seven drawings and four original advertisements. “How to Give Haircuts at Home!” is a little treasure for barbers, Rockabilly enthusiasts and anyone interested in classic men’s hairstyles. Written by American barber Howard Jones in 1958, the 48-page booklet shows how authentic haircuts of the period were actually created. Rather than offering a modern interpretation of 1950s style, the manual presents genuine instructions from the era. Numerous photographs and drawings demonstrate the individual stages, making this booklet an unusual historical reference for traditional barbering techniques. The Fundamentals of Haircutting Howard Jones begins by introducing the essential principles of haircutting. He presents the necessary equipment, explains how to handle scissors, combs and clippers, and demonstrates fundamental cutting techniques that remain familiar in barbershops today. Additional sections cover important “Do’s and Don’ts” and the intriguingly titled “Three Secrets of Haircutting”. The booklet therefore provides more than instructions for individual styles: it also offers a fascinating glimpse into American barbering education during the late 1950s. The Six Most Popular Haircuts of 1958 The Regular Boy’s Haircut: A versatile all-round style for boys between eight and fifteen years old. The Teenager’s Haircut: A classic 1950s haircut for teenagers and young adults. The Trim: The traditional maintenance cut for men of all ages, demonstrated on a family father. Clipper All the Way Around: A fully clipper-cut style that was particularly popular among older gentlemen with grey or white hair. The Flattop Butch: A highly fashionable short haircut for teenagers and adults from the mid-1950s onward. The manual also explains the differences between a Flattop Butch, Regular Butch and Crew Cut. The Regular Butch: An exceptionally short, practical haircut recommended at the time for younger boys. Vintage Advice on Hair Tonics and Lanolin In the final section, Howard Jones answers common hair-care questions of the period. He discusses what could be done about dull-looking hair, what a typical hair tonic contained and how lanolin was used in grooming products. These short explanations turn the booklet into a particularly interesting historical document. They reveal the importance of hair tonics, styling creams and pomades in everyday 1950s grooming – at a time when complete ingredient declarations were not yet commonplace. Featuring Original Advertisements Four original advertisements for hair tonics and styling creams complement the haircutting instructions. They provide an authentic impression of American men’s grooming products and advertising design during the late 1950s. Who Is This Booklet For? Barbers and hairdressers interested in historical cutting techniques Fans of flattops, crew cuts and authentic 1950s hairstyles Rockabilly, vintage and Fifties enthusiasts Collectors of historical barbering and grooming literature Anyone looking for an unusual gift for a pomade or barbershop fan Readers who would like to explore the history of pomades, hair tonics, styling creams and traditional hairbrushes in even greater depth will find the perfect companion in Stan Soldan’s German-language reference work “Das Pomade-Buch”, featuring 320 pages and more than 250 historical images. High-quality reprint of the 1958 booklet. 48 pages with laminated softcover and staple binding. Featuring 69 black-and-white photographs, seven drawings and four vintage advertisements. Language: English. Dimensions: 148 × 210 mm.

Murray's Super Light Pomade

Murray’s Super Light Pomade – Light Hold and Shine for Dry Hair Murray’s softest traditional pomade provides light, flexible hold and a natural to high shine. Its rich formula with lanolin, coconut oil, mineral oil and aloe vera extract is particularly suitable for dry or dull-looking hair, longer hairstyles and use as a shine-enhancing finish over a firmer pomade. Highly economical and easy to apply. Made in the USA. Murray’s Super Light Pomade is the soft and exceptionally easy-to-use alternative to the legendary Murray’s Superior Hair Dressing Pomade. While Superior is best known for its very strong hold, Super Light provides greater smoothness, movement and shine. Its soft consistency is effortless to scoop from the tin, rub between the palms and work through the hair without pulling. This makes it ideal for beginners, longer hair and anyone who prefers a relaxed, well-groomed pomade look. Hold, Shine and Finish Hold: light Shine: natural to high Finish: smooth, flexible and polished Scent: mild, classic and pleasantly subtle Light Hold and Flexible Control Murray’s Super Light provides a relaxed hold without making the hair stiff or allowing it to harden. It smooths flyaways, visibly reduces frizz and gives the hairstyle a polished shape while preserving natural movement. The hair can be restyled at any time using your fingers, a comb or a brush. Its hold alone is usually not sufficient for particularly precise or high hairstyles. When combined with a firmer pomade, however, Super Light reveals its special strengths. Ideal as a Shine-Enhancing Finish Many traditional pomade enthusiasts use Murray’s Super Light as a topper or finishing pomade. A firmer pomade such as Murray’s Superior or Murray’s X-Tra Heavy is first applied to create the hold and basic shape. A very small amount of Super Light is then smoothed lightly over the finished hairstyle. This gives the hair greater suppleness and a more intense, even shine without significantly reducing the hold already created. For Dry and Dull-Looking Hair The rich formula with lanolin, coconut oil, mineral oil and aloe vera extract helps leave the hair feeling smooth and well groomed. The included oils help smooth rough-looking hair and restore shine to hair that appears dry or dull. Super Light can also be used sparingly on longer hair, dry ends or visible flyaways. Due to its rich formula, it should be applied carefully to fine hair to avoid weighing it down or creating excessive shine. Suitable For Dry or dull-looking hair: for greater suppleness and a polished shine Fine to normal hair: for relaxed styles with light hold Medium-length and long hair: for flexible control and natural movement Slick backs and side parts: for classic hairstyles without strong hold Flyaways and frizz: for smoothing individual sections of hair As a pomade topper: for additional shine over a firmer pomade Ideal for Pomade Beginners Anyone trying a traditional oil-based pomade for the first time will find Murray’s Super Light particularly easy to use. It offers the flexible restylability of a classic pomade but is considerably easier to scoop and distribute than Murray’s firmer products. Very soft consistency Easy application without pulling Light and flexible hold Natural to high shine Economical and versatile Consistency and Scent Super Light has a very soft, smooth consistency and melts quickly when rubbed between the palms. This allows it to be distributed particularly evenly throughout the hair. The scent is mild, clean and classic. It remains pleasantly understated in the hair and can easily be combined with an aftershave or fragrance. Highly Economical Murray’s Super Light is exceptionally economical. For many hairstyles, a fingertip covered with only a thin layer of pomade will be sufficient. Using too much can quickly weigh down fine hair and create a very high shine. Always begin with the smallest possible amount and gradually add more product if required. Application Remove a small amount from the tin with your fingertip and rub it thoroughly between your palms. Work it evenly through dry or slightly damp hair, then shape the desired hairstyle using your fingers, a comb or a brush. Applied to dry hair, the pomade feels grippier and controls flyaways particularly well. In slightly damp hair, it spreads even more easily and produces a more intense shine. When using it as a finishing pomade, spread a very small amount between your palms and gently smooth it over the already styled hair. Washing Out and Buildup As a traditional oil-based pomade, Murray’s Super Light cannot be removed completely with water alone. Due to its soft consistency, however, it can be washed out more easily than Murray’s Superior or X-Tra Heavy. Depending on the amount applied, one thorough shampoo wash will often be sufficient. Heavier buildup may require additional washes. A light amount of remaining product can deliberately be used as a styling foundation for the following day. Packaged in a classic nostalgic metal tin. Made in the USA. Free from colourants and added preservatives. Contents: 85 g Ingredients: Petrolatum Lanolin Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil Parfum (Fragrance) Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil) Aloe Barbadensis Extract (Aloe Vera) Benzyl Benzoate Benzyl Salicylate Citronellol Coumarin Geraniol Hexyl Cinnamal Hydroxycitronellal Limonene Linalool

Brillantina Linetti Solida Pomade

Brillantina Linetti Solida – Rare Italian Lavender Pomade Since 1946 A traditional Italian brilliantine pomade made since 1946. It provides light to medium, flexible hold and a soft, well-groomed shine. Its distinctive fragrance is led by aromatic lavender and complemented by warm floral and subtly spicy nuances. Presented in an unusual pale-green case inspired by historic solidified brilliantines. Made in Italy. Brillantina Linetti Solida is a rare classic Italian hair pomade. Since 1946, it has combined flexible styling, soft shine and an elegant lavender fragrance with packaging inspired by the golden age of European brilliantines. Its soft oil-based formula is easy to work through the hair and is particularly suitable for polished, close-fitting hairstyles. The hair remains movable and can be recombed or brushed at any time throughout the day. The most striking feature is the decorative pale-green case. Its characteristic shape recalls historic solidified brilliantines and makes Linetti an unusual focal point in the bathroom, barbershop or pomade collection. Light to Medium, Flexible Hold Brillantina Linetti Solida provides light to medium hold. It keeps the hair neat and supports a polished hairstyle without hardening or forming a rigid styling film. Its flexible control is especially suitable for traditional side parts, slickbacks, neat contours and elegant everyday styles. Fine to normal hair will often require only a small amount for shape and shine. On stronger hair, the pomade can be built gradually or used as a smooth base beneath a firmer pomade. Because the product remains soft, the hairstyle can be recombed whenever required. Linetti is therefore particularly suitable for anyone who prefers naturally movable styling to a hard, fixed finish. Soft Shine in the Tradition of Classic Brilliantines The oil-based formula gives the hair a soft, even shine. The finish looks polished and classic without creating the extreme wet look associated with very soft high-shine pomades. Flyaways are smoothed, while the hair becomes easier to comb into a clean, unified shape. The amount applied determines the intensity: used sparingly, Linetti creates subtle natural-looking shine; a more generous application produces a stronger brilliantine finish. Aromatic Lavender Fragrance The distinctive scent of Brillantina Linetti Solida is led by aromatic lavender. Warm, subtly floral, powdery and gently spicy impressions give the composition its nostalgic character. The fragrance feels classic and well-groomed, recalling traditional European men’s grooming. It remains pleasantly noticeable in the hair without developing the heaviness of a modern perfume. Who Is Brillantina Linetti Solida For? Fans of classic and nostalgic pomades Those who enjoy aromatic lavender fragrances Fine, normal and thick hair Side parts, slickbacks, neat contours and traditional men’s hairstyles Movable styling without a hard finish Soft, well-groomed shine Collectors of historically inspired grooming products As an Italian alternative to classic English lavender brilliantines An Unusual Case Inspired by Historic Brilliantines During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, fine hair oils were frequently sold as brilliantines, while firmer versions were known as “solidified brilliantines.” Premium products often came in decorative containers with oval shapes or rounded corners. The sturdy packaging protected the valuable contents and made the product easier to carry. Brillantina Linetti Solida continues this design tradition with its pale-green case. Although the former metal has been replaced by modern material, the unmistakable character of historic European men’s grooming remains. Consistency The pomade has a soft, smooth consistency and is easy to remove from the inner container. It quickly becomes pliable between the palms and can then be distributed evenly through the hair. The soft texture makes application especially easy on fine to normal hair. For thick or unruly hair, apply several small portions gradually instead of using one large amount at once. Directions Remove a small amount with a fingertip and rub thoroughly between the palms. Work it evenly through dry or slightly damp hair from the roots to the ends. Shape the hair with a comb or hairbrush. For a traditional side part, establish the basic shape with a fine-toothed comb, then smooth the hairstyle with a natural-bristle brush. Used in dry hair, the pomade provides slightly greater control and a more subtle finish. Applied to slightly damp hair, it distributes especially easily and creates stronger, more unified shine. Prepare the Hair with Hair Tonic A hair tonic improves manageability before application and helps the pomade spread evenly. For light, oil-free preparation with silky shine, choose Don Draper Hair Tonic YELLOW. Those who prefer a richer hair feel and a warmer fragrance can use Don Draper Hair Tonic GOLD. Follow with a small amount of Linetti and complete the hairstyle with the Don Draper Premium Comb and a Don Draper hairbrush made with pure boar bristles. For More Hold: Don Draper Men’s Pomade If the smooth Linetti brilliantine does not provide enough control, Don Draper Men’s Pomade is a suitable alternative. It provides medium to firm, flexible hold and classic shine. Its mild fragrance combines hints of coconut and pineapple with warm woody nuances. The two pomades can also be combined. Apply Don Draper Men’s Pomade first as the controlling base, then add a small amount of Linetti for additional shine and its characteristic lavender fragrance. An Alternative with an Iconic Fragrance: Sweet Georgia Brown Those who prefer a warmer, powdery and spicy fragrance with particularly strong historic character can choose one of the classic Sweet Georgia Brown Pomades. The iconic Sweet Georgia Brown fragrance combines impressions of rose, lavender, spices, citrus and vanilla. It has been one of the most legendary scent compositions in pomade and grooming history since the 1930s. Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Tonic improves manageability before styling and introduces the unmistakable fragrance while it is massaged into the hair and scalp. Follow with a Sweet Georgia Brown Pomade for traditional hold and shine. English Lavender Alternative: Yardley Those specifically looking for another classic lavender brilliantine will find Yardley English Lavender Brillantine a particularly suitable secondary alternative. Yardley interprets the theme with a traditionally English lavender character, while Linetti offers a softer Italian variation in its unusual pale-green case. Both products appeal to enthusiasts of historic brilliantines but differ in fragrance, consistency and styling feel. This makes them ideal for comparing traditional Italian and English approaches to classic men’s grooming. Styling the Following Day As an oil-based brilliantine, some of the product remains in the hair overnight. The following morning, thoroughly combing or brushing the hair will often be sufficient. When required, massage in a small amount of Don Draper Hair Tonic to make the existing product pliable again. Add a little Linetti and reshape the hairstyle. Washing Out Brillantina Linetti Solida is a traditional oil-based pomade and is therefore not water-soluble. Water alone will remove only part of it. The remaining light build-up can be used as a base for styling the following day. For thorough cleansing, first massage shampoo into dry or only slightly damp hair. Allow it to work briefly, then add water, create a lather and rinse carefully. A second wash may be required after heavier product build-up. For mild regular cleansing, use Sweet Georgia Brown Cocoanut Oil Shampoo. Its gentle formula cleanses the hair and scalp, while conditioning coconut oil derivatives support a smooth hair feel. Despite its name, the shampoo does not have a coconut fragrance; it carries the iconic Sweet Georgia Brown scent. Caution For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not apply to an irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Presented in a decorative pale-green case inspired by historic packaging. Made since 1946. Made in Italy. Without added preservatives. DAX Short & Neat – Soft Pomade with Light Hold and Natural Shine Soft, oil-based hair pomade with light hold and a natural to medium shine. DAX Short & Neat combines coconut and castor oils with an exceptionally smooth styling base. Ideal for short to medium-length hairstyles, dry or dull-looking hair and use as a shine-enhancing finish over a firmer pomade. Made in the USA. DAX Short & Neat is an exceptionally soft and easy-to-use pomade for natural hairstyles with light hold and a polished shine. Its smooth consistency is effortless to scoop from the tin and distributes evenly through the hair without pulling. The rich formula contains coconut oil and castor oil. It smooths the hair’s surface, controls flyaways and makes dry or dull-looking hair appear more supple and glossy. Hold, Shine and Finish Hold: light Shine: natural to medium Finish: soft, smooth and flexible Scent: mild, clean and subtly powdery Light Hold for Natural Hairstyles DAX Short & Neat provides a relaxed, flexible hold and is particularly suitable for short to medium-length hair. It smooths individual sections, controls flyaways and gives the hairstyle a polished shape without making the hair stiff. Because the pomade never hardens, the hair retains its natural movement and can be restyled at any time using your fingers, a comb or a brush. Natural to Medium Shine Depending on the amount applied and the method of application, DAX Short & Neat creates a natural to medium shine. The finish appears more understated in dry hair, while application to slightly damp hair produces a more intense shine. The pomade is particularly suitable for anyone who wants to give their hair a polished appearance without creating an extremely glossy wet look. Suitable For Short to medium-length hairstyles: for light hold and natural control Slick backs: for relaxed, swept-back styles with a polished shine Side parts: for classic hairstyles with flexible shape Business styles: for a natural and tidy finish Dry or dull-looking hair: for greater suppleness and visible shine Flyaways and frizz: for smoothing individual sections of hair As a finishing pomade: for additional shine over a firmer pomade Coconut Oil and Castor Oil Coconut oil helps leave the hair feeling smooth and adds shine to dry-looking hair. Castor oil complements the rich formula and helps make the hair’s surface appear smoother. The combination is particularly suitable for hair that appears dry, brittle or dull. Due to the oil-rich formula, the pomade should be applied sparingly to fine hair to avoid weighing it down. Ideal as a Finishing Pomade DAX Short & Neat works exceptionally well as a topper or finishing pomade. Begin by applying a firmer pomade to create the required hold and basic shape. Then smooth a very small amount of Short & Neat lightly over the finished hairstyle. This gives the hair a smoother surface and additional shine without significantly reducing the hold already created. Consistency and Scent The pomade has a very soft, smooth consistency and can be removed from the tin with virtually no resistance. It becomes instantly pliable when rubbed between the palms and can be distributed evenly through the hair. The scent is mild, clean and subtly powdery. It remains pleasantly understated in the hair and combines easily with an aftershave or fragrance. Application Remove a small amount from the tin with your fingertip and rub it between your palms. Work it evenly through dry or slightly damp hair. Shape the desired hairstyle using your fingers, a comb or a brush. Gradually add another small amount if additional shine or control is required. When using it as a finishing pomade, apply only a very small amount and gently smooth it over the already styled hair. Dosage Begin with the smallest possible amount. The soft, oil-rich formula is highly economical and can quickly weigh down fine hair if applied too generously. For dry-looking ends or individual flyaways, a thin layer of product on the fingertips will often be sufficient. Restyling and Buildup Because the pomade never hardens, the hairstyle can be recombed or reshaped with your fingers at any time. A little water or a few splashes of hair tonic are often sufficient to refresh the style the following day. A light amount of remaining product can deliberately be left in the hair as buildup and make styling easier over the following days. Washing Out As a traditional oil-based pomade, DAX Short & Neat cannot be removed completely with water alone. Due to its soft consistency, however, it can be washed out more easily than firm wax pomades. Depending on the amount applied, one thorough shampoo wash will often be sufficient. Heavier buildup may require additional washes. Packaged in a classic metal tin. Made in the USA. Free from colourants and added preservatives. Contents: 99 g (3.5 oz.) Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine

Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine – Legendary Lavender Pomade in a Glass Jar Legendary soft brilliantine with a light to medium hold, silky shine and an unmistakable fragrance of English lavender, fresh bergamot and oakmoss. This traditional hair pomade leaves the hair smooth and well groomed and is still presented in its nostalgic glass jar with a gold-coloured lid. Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine is one of the world's best-known classic lavender pomades. Its elegant fragrance and traditional packaging also made it synonymous with English men's grooming in Germany for many decades. Yardley is one of Britain's most historic fragrance, bath and body care brands. With this brilliantine, the company preserves a nearly forgotten chapter of traditional hair care: an exceptionally soft, fragranced pomade designed to provide smoothness, gentle shine and a polished appearance. What Is Brilliantine? The word “brilliantine” is derived from the French word “brillant”, meaning shiny. These fragranced grooming products became popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and were used to make the hair, beard and moustache smoother while providing a polished, glossy appearance. Unlike particularly firm styling pomades, a brilliantine focuses less on maximum hold and more on smoothness, shine, combability and fragrance. Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine continues to embody precisely this traditional character. Light to Medium Hold Yardley Brilliantine provides a light to medium, flexible hold. It gently shapes the hair, smooths flyaways and improves combability without allowing the hairstyle to harden. The hair remains soft, movable and easy to recomb at any time. This makes the brilliantine particularly suitable for traditional hairstyles that should appear polished and natural without looking visibly overstyled. Silky Shine and a Polished Finish The soft oil-based formula gives the hair a natural to pronounced silky shine. Depending on the amount applied, the result can range from subtly polished to a classic, elegant brilliantine finish. The pomade also works exceptionally well as a shine-enhancing finish over a firmer product. A thin layer is sufficient to add extra shine and smoothness to an already styled hairstyle. Which Hairstyles Is This Brilliantine Suitable For? Classic slick backs and side parts Polished business hairstyles Traditional contours and men's styles Relaxed pompadours with a gentle shine Smoothing flyaways Adding shine over a firmer pomade Conditioning dry or dull-looking ends Which Hair Types Is It Suitable For? Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine is particularly suitable for fine to normal hair and for dry or dull-looking hair. Due to its soft consistency, it should be used sparingly to avoid unnecessarily weighing down finer hair. On thicker hair, it can also be used as a conditioning finish or combined with a firmer pomade. The Legendary Lavender Fragrance The fragrance is the unmistakable heart of Yardley Brilliantine. Aromatic lavender meets fresh notes of bergamot, lemon, rosemary and eucalyptus. Geranium and sage give the composition a classic herbal character. Warm accords of cedarwood, oakmoss and musk add depth and elegantly complete the fragrance. The result is fresh, floral, subtly powdery and unmistakably British – a timeless gentleman's scent with historic character. Consistency and Styling The vibrant green brilliantine has an exceptionally soft and smooth consistency. It can be scooped from the glass jar with virtually no resistance and becomes instantly smooth between the palms. It distributes effortlessly through the hair without pulling. Even a small amount improves combability while adding a polished shine and the characteristic lavender fragrance. Application Scoop out a small amount with your fingertips and distribute it between your palms. Work it evenly through towel-dried or dry hair, then shape the desired hairstyle with a comb. Applying the brilliantine to towel-dried hair makes it particularly easy to distribute and creates a stronger shine. Use it more sparingly in dry hair to smooth flyaways and achieve a naturally polished finish. A hairbrush distributes the product particularly evenly and creates a smooth, consistent shape with an elegant shine and no visible stringiness. Washout As a traditional oil-based brilliantine, the product cannot be completely removed with water alone. However, its soft formula makes it easier to wash out than many firm pomades. Depending on the amount applied, a good shampoo is usually sufficient for thorough cleansing. The Nostalgic Packaging Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine is presented in a transparent glass jar with a gold-coloured aluminium screw-top lid. Its small historic label and vibrant green contents give the packaging an unmistakable vintage character. While glass jars were once common for pomades and hair creams, they have now become rare. This makes Yardley Brilliantine not only a classic grooming product but also a distinctive collector's item. Packaged in a nostalgic glass jar with a gold-coloured aluminium screw-top lid.
