The RareCraft Sicilian Sunset Oil Based Clay combines the reliable hold and characteristic buildup of a traditional oil-based pomade with the dry texture of a modern hair clay. It was developed for styles that require plenty of control, volume and definition while retaining a natural and flexible appearance. Its firm yet workable consistency can be scooped from the glass jar with light pressure and softens when rubbed thoroughly between the palms. Once applied, the clay delivers a strong, long-lasting and restylable hold. Unlike a gel pomade, it does not set completely rigid, allowing the hairstyle to be adjusted with the fingers or a comb during the day. Volume, texture and reliable control Kaolin and montmorillonite add grip while reducing the visible shine of the oil- and wax-based foundation. This creates a textured, naturally matte finish. Depending on the hair, amount used and application method, a subtle and well-groomed satin sheen may remain. The clay groups individual sections of hair, produces visible definition and supports voluminous styles without making the hair look stiff or artificial. Coarse, dense or unruly hair particularly benefits from its combination of strong control and flexible restyling. In this case, apply it particularly sparingly or select a lighter water-based styling product. Rich formula with oils, butter and proteins In addition to petrolatum and selected waxes, the oil-based formula contains botanical oils, shea butter and hydrolysed plant proteins: Kaolin and montmorillonite: Provide grip, volume and a matte finish. Beeswax and microcrystalline wax: Support strong yet flexible hold. Shea butter: Helps keep the hair supple despite the clay’s grippy styling effect. Wheat-germ oil: Complements the formula with conditioning lipids. Avocado oil: Supports a soft and conditioned hair feel. Argan and jojoba oils: Condition the hair and help reduce a brittle feeling. Hydrolysed lupine and rice proteins: Support a stronger and more structured appearance. Vitamin E: Functions as an antioxidant within the formula. Because the formula contains beeswax, this product is not vegan. The Sicilian Sunset fragrance The fragrance evokes a warm sunset on the Sicilian coast. Sparkling citrus fruits open the composition with Mediterranean freshness. Elegant white flowers form its heart before the scent settles into a warm and gently sensual base. Top notes: Lemon, bergamot, mandarin and bitter orange Heart notes: African orange blossom, neroli, jasmine and pittosporum Base notes: Amber, angelica and ambrette The combination of fresh citrus, elegant flowers and a warm base gives the clay a summery, Mediterranean yet masculine character. Tobacco is not included in the manufacturer’s current fragrance description. How to use Scoop out a small amount with dry fingers and rub it thoroughly between the palms until the clay becomes soft and evenly distributed. Apply it gradually from the roots through to the ends. For the strongest hold, most texture and mattest result, apply the clay to completely dry hair. Application to slightly towel-dried hair makes it easier to distribute and creates a smoother finish with slightly less volume. Shape with the fingers for relaxed texture or use a comb and brush for a cleaner, more precise result. Add further small amounts gradually when needed. Applying too much at once may unnecessarily weigh the hair down. Buildup and restyling Like a traditional oil-based pomade, Sicilian Sunset Clay may leave a light buildup after a gentle shampoo wash. This thin layer of residual product can be used as a natural styling foundation the following day, often providing additional volume and faster shaping. To refresh the style, lightly dampen the hair with water or an oil-free hair tonic, comb it through and reshape it. A smaller amount of fresh clay than on the first day will usually be sufficient. Washout As an oil- and wax-based clay, the product is not as easy to remove as a water-based pomade. A good shampoo is recommended for thorough cleansing.
