Product information "Pinaud Clubman EAU DE QUININE Hair Tonic"
Clubman Pinaud Eau de Quinine – Legendary Hair Tonic Inspired by an 1850s Classic
A traditional oil-free hair tonic inspired by the historic Eau de Quinine from the celebrated Parisian perfume house Ed. Pinaud. Its lightweight alcohol-based formula refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and provides very light, flexible control without greasy residue. The unmistakable fragrance combines fruity, dry and subtly bitter impressions with floral, spicy and gently sweet nuances. Ideal as a daily hair tonic, a finishing touch after a haircut or a preparation for pomade. Made in the USA.
Clubman Pinaud Eau de Quinine Hair Tonic continues the tradition of one of the most historic hair-care products associated with the house of Ed. Pinaud. The original Eau de Quinine was introduced during the 1850s and developed into an internationally recognised hair tonic that remained available well into the twentieth century.
Today’s version preserves the distinctive wine-red appearance, nostalgic label and unusual fragrance of this classic. As a light, oil-free hair tonic, it refreshes the hair and scalp, improves manageability and prepares the hair for a traditional pomade.
Oil-Free Refreshment for the Hair and Scalp
The alcohol-based formula distributes easily, evaporates quickly and leaves no oily film. This makes Eau de Quinine particularly suitable for those who appreciate the traditional ritual of a hair tonic but wish to avoid heavy oils and a greasy hair feel.
After application, the hair feels fresh and light. Dampening, massaging and subsequently combing the hair provides very light, flexible control. The hairstyle remains mobile and can be rearranged at any time with a comb or brush.
As the current formula contains no conventional styling polymers, Eau de Quinine should not be confused with a pomade or a modern styling tonic. It does not harden the hair or create firm hold; instead, it supports a relaxed and neatly groomed style.
Very Light Control and a Naturally Groomed Finish
Eau de Quinine is ideal for hairstyles that should look orderly and polished without appearing heavily coated with styling product. It improves manageability and helps temporarily lay down flyaways and unruly strands.
Applied to dry hair, it refreshes the hairstyle and creates a clean, naturally groomed finish. In towel-dried hair, it makes subsequent combing easier and provides an excellent foundation for pomade, hair dressing or brilliantine.
Ideal as a Pre-Styler Before Pomade
Used before a traditional pomade, Eau de Quinine leaves the hair slightly damp and more manageable. This helps the styling product distribute more evenly and can make application more comfortable, particularly in dry or unruly hair.
An existing oil-based pomade style can also be refreshed the following morning with a small amount of Eau de Quinine. Massage it through the hair, comb thoroughly and add a small quantity of pomade if additional hold is required.
An Unmistakable Fragrance
The fragrance of Clubman Pinaud Eau de Quinine is difficult to compare with modern hair-care products. Fruity, dry and subtly bitter impressions meet floral, spicy and gently sweet nuances.
Immediately after application, the fragrance feels lively and alcoholically fresh. It soon becomes rounder and reveals its classic, elegantly powdery character. The result is nostalgic and mysterious, yet clean and well groomed—a scent that immediately evokes historic barbershops and traditional perfumeries.
Fragrance character:
Fruity, dry, subtly bitter, floral, spicy, gently sweet and classically elegant
A Hair Tonic with a Remarkable History
The historic Eau de Quinine was introduced during the 1850s by the Parisian perfumery Ed. Pinaud. It became one of the house’s best-known products and was sold internationally until at least the 1960s.
During the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, hair tonics formed part of the regular grooming routines of both women and men. They were used between washes to refresh the hair, improve manageability and prepare it for hair dressing, brilliantine or pomade.
Historical Eau de Quinine products contained heavily diluted quinine and were promoted with claims that would not be considered substantiated by modern standards. The traditional product name has been retained, but no quinine appears in the current ingredient list shown here.

The Traditional Hair-Tonic Ritual
Dispense a small amount into the palms or apply it carefully and directly to the scalp. Massage it through the hair and over the scalp with the fingertips for approximately 20 to 60 seconds.
Arrange the hair first with a wide-tooth comb and then use a finer comb or hairbrush to create the desired shape. Massage and combing distribute the tonic evenly and allow its characteristic fragrance to unfold completely.
Directions as a Pre-Styler
Work a modest amount through dry or towel-dried hair and comb carefully. Once the hair is only slightly damp, warm the chosen pomade between the palms and distribute it evenly.
Finish the hairstyle with a comb or brush. If required, it can be restyled later in the day using lightly dampened hands.
Important Information for Light-Coloured Hair
Because of its intense wine-red colour, Eau de Quinine is not recommended for blonde, bleached, grey, white or otherwise very light hair. Its colourants may temporarily affect particularly porous or chemically treated hair.
If uncertain, test a small amount on an inconspicuous strand first. Avoid contact with pale clothing, towels and delicate surfaces.
Caution
For external use only. Flammable. Keep away from flames, sparks and sources of heat. Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not apply to irritated or damaged scalp. Keep out of reach of children.

Sehr gut!
