Product information "King Brown MATTE Pomade"
King Brown Matte Pomade – Dry Hold and Completely Matte Finish
Modern unorthodox water-based pomade with a light to medium hold, dry texture and completely matte finish. Its firm, creamy formula combines water with petrolatum, beeswax, carnauba wax and clay. Finished with a sporty, masculine scent of leather and fresh cedarwood. Made in Australia.
King Brown Matte Pomade, also known as Dry Hold, combines the flexible styling properties of a traditional pomade with the dry finish of a modern matte product. Its hybrid formula features both classic pomade ingredients and water-based styling components.
The result is a versatile UWB pomade for natural, relaxed and textured hairstyles. It adds shape and control without unnecessarily weighing down the hair. Once styled, the hair feels pleasantly lightweight – almost as if there were no product in it at all.
Light to Medium Hold
King Brown Matte Pomade provides a light to medium, flexible hold. It keeps the hairstyle reliably controlled throughout the working day without making the hair stiff. The style remains movable and can be reshaped at any time with your fingers or a comb.
The product can be built up gradually for additional hold. Start with a small amount, as the firm formula is highly concentrated and economical to use.
Completely Matte Finish
Kaolin and quartz absorb excess shine and give the hair a dry, naturally matte finish. The hairstyle appears well-groomed and textured without looking greasy, shiny or overloaded with product.
The incorporated waxes provide suppleness and flexible control at the same time. This keeps the hair comfortably manageable despite the matte effect.
Ideal for Natural and Textured Hairstyles
King Brown Matte Pomade is particularly suitable for:
- Relaxed quiffs and pompadours
- Side parts with a natural finish
- Textured short hairstyles
- Modern business styles
- Messy looks and casual everyday hairstyles
- Fine to normal hair requiring additional texture
Consistency and Styling
The cream-coloured pomade has a firm, waxy and creamy consistency. It requires a little pressure to scoop out but quickly becomes more pliable between the palms. It can then be distributed evenly through the hair without excessive resistance.
Even a small amount provides noticeable texture and control. For the driest finish and strongest hold, apply the pomade to completely dry hair.
The Scent
The fragrance is sporty, masculine and pleasantly understated. Fresh cedarwood combines with subtle leather notes to create a timeless and elegant scent. It remains discreet in the hair, making the pomade ideal for everyday use.
Application
Scoop out a small amount of pomade and rub it thoroughly between your palms. Distribute it evenly through dry hair, then shape the desired hairstyle with your fingers or a comb.
For additional texture and volume, loosen the hairstyle with a hairbrush. No water is required for restyling – simply comb the hair again or reshape it with your fingers whenever necessary.
Washout
Due to its high wax and petrolatum content, King Brown Matte Pomade cannot be removed completely with water alone. However, warm water and a good shampoo make it considerably easier to wash out than many traditional oil-based pomades.
The Packaging
A particular highlight is the elaborately designed tobacco-style metal tin in black, orange and silver. Its centrepiece is the Australian king brown snake, accompanied by curved lettering and decorative embossed details. The product name is also a reference to the brand's founder, Dean Brown.
Packaged in a decorative tobacco-style metal tin.

King Brown – Australian Pomades with Iconic Design
In Australia, the name King Brown has several meanings. It refers to one of the country’s best-known venomous snakes, is also used colloquially for large brown beer bottles and, since 2013, has represented a distinctive Australian grooming brand.
King Brown was founded by childhood friends Daen Brown and Dan Binskin. Drawing on their professional backgrounds in the Australian surf, streetwear and fashion industries, they recognised that the barbershop market offered relatively few styling products with a strong identity. Their goal was to create professional pomades combining reliable performance, authentic character and unmistakable presentation.
From Traditional Pomade to Modern Styling
The brand’s first release was its traditional oil-based Original Pomade. Inspired by pomades from the 1920s through the 1950s, it provides pliable hold, classic shine and a distinctive fragrance of tobacco, cherry and vanilla.
The collection was later expanded with water-based, matte and cream styling products. Depending on the formulation, King Brown offers different levels of hold and finish for slick backs, side parts and pompadours as well as modern textured hairstyles.
Iconic Metal Tins with Australian Character
A defining feature of King Brown is its elaborately designed metal packaging inspired by traditional tobacco tins. Embossed details, bold colours and the winding king brown snake make each tin a genuine eye-catcher and have played an important role in the brand’s cult status.
Today, the King Brown range extends beyond pomades to include hair care, styling powder, combs and selected accessories. The brand remains committed to its original vision: creating distinctive grooming products designed to outlast passing trends while remaining firmly rooted in Australian barbering, surf and creative culture.

a perfect choice

geht so
